The drama over Buzzfeed trying to publicly shame the stars of an HGTV show over their churchs stance on same-sex marriage just keeps getting more ridiculous.
The author of the hit piece, Kate Aurthur, is a reporter and editor for the liberal site Buzzfeed News. Alex Varney, a producer for Dana Loesch, a conservative host for The Blaze, emailed Arthur, asking her to come on the show via Skype to discuss the article.
Then, in response to a tweet from Loesch that criticized her, Aurthur tweeted a screenshot of the email Varney sent to her to ask about coming on the show. The screenshot also contained Varneys cell phone number as part of his email signature, effectively making his private number public information, and exposing him to Arthurs some 24.7K followers.
This apparently led to Varney getting so many harassing calls that he tweeted that he needed to get a new cell phone number.
Aurthurs behavior is seemingly in violation of Twitters rules on harassment which read, in part,
--- Harassment: You may not incite or engage in the targeted abuse or harassment of others. Some of the factors that we may consider when evaluating abusive behavior include:
if a primary purpose of the reported account is to harass or send abusive messages to others;
if the reported behavior is one-sided or includes threats;
if the reported account is inciting others to harass another account; and
if the reported account is sending harassing messages to an account from multiple accounts. ---
Under this definition, Aurthur presumably engaged in inciting the harassment of another user.
However, Arthur has yet to be suspended or banned for her behavior. Twitter has banned accounts for far less, such as Breitbart Tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos, who was permanently suspended after making jokes at the expense of actress Leslie Jones. And just a few weeks ago, several Twitter accounts associated with the alt-right movement were removed, despite the fact that some had never engaged in any behavior that one could consider harassment of any kind.
As of press time for this article, Arthurs account remains up.
pssst
Someone: tell BuzzardFeed that Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden’s church is against homosexual marriage and abortion on demand
EVERY DEMOCRAT IS EVIL!!! AND THREATENING!!!
Right after they break the news to Biden and Pelosi.
Of course it is. The old double standard always applies. It's OK for liberals to do wrong. It's expected that they will.
So who is this Kate Arthur, and where does she reside?
Two can play at that game.
They’re close to me. Usually within walking distance but there’s security at the door. I can tell them to all F Off and die..
Loesch and producer are naive to the Left. Why post personal numbers at all, when dealing with the cretins? Did I miss something. I just perused the unfortunate story.
This is the same Dana who dutifully fell for the Cruz silver tongue, so I am not entirely surprised when it comes to the ever trusting BLAZE staff.
The fact that they have to shame people, threaten them with jail time and threaten their lives shows you just how wonderful same sex ‘marriage’ is. /s
What a violent lot homosexuals and their enablers are.
This should result in a lawsuit.
Twitter’s double standard was clear in tolerating hash tags like kill all white men, kill all cops, kill all men, much less the actual calls for violence associated with those hash tags. But say anything the left labels bigoted, get banned.
Every liberal is a totalitarian thug.
Instead of doing these Romney-esque “aren’t they so nasty and unfair” articles and positions it is time for conservatives to find non-leftist mediums. Not Twitter, not FB, not not not.
So will Kellogg’s stop advertising at Buzzfeed?
Ha!
