‘Come at us,’ California attorney general pick Xavier Becerra tells feds
The Sacramento Bee ^ | December 1st, 2016 | By Jeremy B. White

Posted on 12/01/2016 7:43:06 PM PST by Mariner

Gov. Jerry Brown has tabbed Rep. Xavier Becerra to serve as California’s interim attorney general, selecting the Los Angeles Democrat to fill a vacancy opened by the imminent departure of outgoing Attorney General Kamala Harris to the U.S. Senate.

Assuming he wins confirmation by the Legislature – a strong possibility, given the 12-term Democrat’s role as a mainstay of Democratic and Los Angeles politics – Becerra would serve as California’s top law enforcement official through 2018, with an opportunity to serve for another eight years if he runs for the office. He would be California’s first Latino attorney general.

The election of Donald Trump as president has alarmed California Democrats and thrown into question the state’s liberal stances on issues like climate change and immigration. Brown’s choice of a liberal stalwart like Becerra reaffirmed the state’s future role as a pocket of resistance.

“Xavier has been an outstanding public servant – in the State Legislature, the U.S. Congress and as a deputy attorney general,” Brown said in an emailed statement. “I'm confident he will be a champion for all Californians and help our state aggressively combat climate change.”

Referring to himself as “the son of immigrants” who is motivated to “fight for working families like the one I grew up in,” Becerra said in a statement that he had accepted Brown’s offer and summarized his liberal bona fides.

“I have been part of some of the greatest debates confronting our nation, from opposing the Iraq War, to fighting to help Americans recover from the Great Recession, to launching the bipartisan immigration talks and helping write our nation’s health security law,” Becerra said, adding that “California right now is ahead of the country when it comes to clean energy, common sense treatment of immigrants, real health security and so much more.”

It is politically impossible for a Democrat in CA, or any major US city, to say they will voluntarily comply with the law.

They will all say they will fight, fight fight. They will all openly defy and flaunt the law in the most public manner they are able.

But once they are served with a Federal court order, they will all fold like a lawn chair, just like this son of illegals.

The Democrats built this monstrous leviathan and have institutional awareness of it's power...which they have exercised on innumerable occasions.

You realize your taxes will go up to make up for the loss of federal $$$. It will probably be gasoline but maybe even the sales tax.

You can take comfort that the taxes going up are the most regressive so it hurts the one that legislators claim to want to help. They sleep at night with a self-back-pat, you pay more and the poor suffer.

That is a large part of why I moved to Texas.

Before we can turn things around we need to HIT BOTTOM.

If this Mexy can do something really PERSONAL against Trump, then I think the bottom might come.

This constant GRADUAL descent will take us through the center of the Earth. We’ll pop out at China, or something.

We need some kind of shock and I think it might be coming.

They’re all grandstanding political hacks. DT is not cut from their beta male weak sauce cloth.
They do not have any idea who they’re dealing with because DT isn’t a traditional politician and he’s not the typical capitulating republican. They can’t figure him out because he’s not of their world.

These people need a jail cell and I despise the media and Republicans who have enabled their defiance of the sacred rule of law.

In 1963 when George Wallace refused to integrate the University of Alabama, and refused to recognize the authority of the US Attorney and a dozen federal Marshalls, JFK Federalized the Alabama National Guard to exact compliance.

The General of the Guard ordered Wallace to step aside and that he was authorized to use deadly force to compel it. Of course the governor stood aside.

This at the top of the granite steps of the University admin building with every news organization in the US watching.

Democrats are not reluctant to use Federal power.

Just an FYI, I’ll all for state rights and hate the over reaching feds, but there are only a few things the feds should be doing, and protecting the border is one of them. They can get out of every other state business but they need to protect the border or else you do not have a country.
