Because he probably will not go to war with them over their killing of mohammedan terrorist?

Just a possibility.

Possibly it’s relief at not having to deal with someone who has already been bought and paid for by the Muslim Brotherhood? Just a thought.

Interests trump values every time.

Values are actually extremely variable characteristics of what goes to make up the whole persona of either an individual or a nation as a whole, while interests have this amazing capability of being much more consistent. What is held to be a “value” in one time or in one set of circumstances may have to be totally reversed over time, or as the circumstances change. Interests as overall objectives change little over time, and even in adversity, tend to be held closely.

Because they, unlike our Neo-Con dinosaurs, realize the Cold War is over and the new global problem is Islamic Terrorism.

If we can scratch the Bear’s back and the Bear can mind its manners, we can form quite the mercantile enterprise. I see some hope in it. They’ve got a lot that we can use, and we’ve got a lot that they can use. As long as it’s win-win, we win (I know that’s a truism, but sometimes truisms are useful).

Maintaining solid relationships with friends and respectful relationships with ambiguous parties is good business for people and nations alike. It’s pathetic how many losers in Washington never figured out something like this that should be obvious.

Hillary was going to lead us to the brink of nuclear war. Trump will work with them against ISIS.

Because nobody can be as bad at foreign policy as Obama. Trump can only be an improvement. The Russians are relieved to see that the grown ups are back in charge in America.

Because he seems to be a fan of the nation state. That is the cornerstone of Russian national policy. All of our conflicts with Russia are because they will not willingly cede control of their internal policies and economy to the New York/Brussels/London axis. Trump is also respectful.

Simple as that.

Obama went on a world apology tour. Trump should go on a world apology tour and apologize for 8 years if Obama stirring up trouble practicing regime change.

Because 0bama would go to war with Russia to protect his ISIS buddies and his own legacy, Trump won't.

Personally I believe the Russians understand Marxism much better than 0bama ever did.
When they heard 0bama spew the same subversive garbage that Putin KNOWS originated from their own Kremlin think tank, they lost all respect.

“In one of his earliest new foreign policy initiatives, President Obama sought to reset relations with Russia and reverse what he called a “dangerous drift” in this important bilateral relationship. President Obama and his administration have sought to engage the Russian government to pursue foreign policy goals of common interest – win-win outcomes — for the American and Russian people.”
—whitehouse.gov (06/20/10) press release

Trump: “I would treat Vladimir Putin firmly but there’s nothing that I can think of that I’d rather do than have Russia friendly — as opposed to the way they are right now — so that we can go and knock out ISIS together along with other people and with other countries,” he said. “Wouldn’t it be nice if we actually got along with people?”

“Trump’s ideas on Russia alarming allies, many in U.S.”
Nancy Benac/AP (07/30/16)

“Foreign policy experts of all stripes ‘are left slack-jawed’ by Trump’s pronouncements, said Derek Chollet, a senior adviser at the German Marshall Fund and former Pentagon official in the Obama administration.”

Putin threatens NATO. He wants it destroyed. He longs for the days when his nation, with its GULAG and its empire, were paramount and perceived as a coequal to the USA. Putin thinks Trump is gullible and malleable due to his reaction to a few mere compliments. Putin fears the Russian people will punish him for his thefts of their wealth and the theft by the oligarchs that support him and his revanchnist agenda. Putin thinks that by forming common cause with the USA against Islamists he can be rewarded with a few nations, maybe in the Baltics. We can only hope that this transparently fatuous scheme of Putin’s dies and that making America Great doesn’t mean ignoring Putin’s neo-empire agenda.
