That's how an 18-year-old Noemi felt when she learned that she had no choice but to hand over her baby daughter to the man convicted of assaulting her.
Noemi's child was conceived in the assault, and Nebraska's laws on parental rights forced her to agree to court-sanctioned visits between her daughter and her attacker.
Noemi with her daughter, who was born after Noemi was raped. Noemi with her daughter, who was born after Noemi was raped. For Noemi, who asked CNN to protect her privacy by not using her last name, it amounts to putting the most cherished part of her life in harm's way.
Her biggest fear is that her child will "get hurt or something bad will happen to her," Noemi told CNN's Lisa Ling. "I can't tell what he will do to my daughter."
Noemi's story isn't unusual. Across America, there are state laws that don't protect women who became pregnant through rape from being forced to share their children with their rapists.

The feminists are saying this is what she deserves for not having an abortion (sad but true).
Men don’t ‘rights’ or have a say if the mother of their child aborts but if she decides to keep it even in cases like this then the man all of a sudden has ‘rights’. THAT is messed up.

A man has parental rights... that’s reality - and if he forced a woman to bear his child, he should be responsible for it.
Let’s not let him off the hook because he committed a vile act. You break it, you own it.
When you become a parent, irrespective of what circumstances in which you became a parent, now you face the music.
No, the woman in question doesn’t owe you anything but its your child.
Bullcrap. A person male or female can lose parental rights for serious crimes. If a rapist creates a child, I agree to hold them responsible....financially. But the satate can garnish that without her ever seeing him.
But It’s evil to force the woman to interact with him as a co-parent complete with custody rights. Utterly insane. I’m not talking accusations thrown around, but only a court convicted rapist.
No other crime victim is forced to interact monthly with the predator for a few decades.
If we’re going to allow women not to let rapist fathers have a role in raising a child - then by the same token, we have to repeal laws that force innocent men to support kids DNA evidence shows isn’t theirs in the first place.
What goes around comes around. That’s especially true with man-hating judges who ruin innocent guys lives because they won’t accept evidence they’re not fathers of the kids they’re ordered to support.
My point is a man needs to take responsibility - and rape shouldn’t be an excuse to get him off the hook.
No one is saying the woman should be forced to marry him or love him.
But he should be forced to support her and their child. Rape is not a free pass card from the consequences of life.
True, but how is that relevant in this case, in which, at least according to the story posted, there was no conviction for rape?
He’s paying child support, and wants to be a part of his daughter’s life. Doesn’t sound much like a rapist to me.

Like I said, no matter how you become a parent, whether or not you have a relationship with the other person, the child’s yours.
Lots of men wouldn’t be burdened with such a life-altering event if they thought twice about the consequences. It could save their life and that of another person.
No one is forcing people to do things they shouldn’t do in the first place. That’s always a personal decision.

No raped woman and her child of rape should be forced nor obliged to accommodate the rapist in any way whatsoever.
Conception through rape does make the rapist a father, but he should be banned from ever seeing his child and the woman he raped. Additionally, he should have his penis and balls ripped off and be allowed to die unless he can staunch the bleeding on his own.
Legally, no.
The scumbag’s punishment is being a father.
Sex regardless of consent involved, has consequences.
Guys need to keep that in mind before taking advantage of a woman.
Support the child yes. But he abused the child even before the moment of conception. He abused the mother of his child. why does that allow him visitation unsupervised? or even supervised?
