ACLU files suit to thwart resumption of executions in California

A civil liberties group on Tuesday filed a lawsuit that could slow California’s plans for resuming executions.

The ACLU of Northern California challenged a state law that gives the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation wide flexibility in establishing execution procedures.

Delegating such policy decisions to a state agency, the suit says, violates separation of powers provisions of the California Constitution.

The suit follows a Nov. 4 decision by the corrections department to finalize new regulations for conducting lethal injections and the subsequent passage of a ballot measure intended to expedite executions.

A separate lawsuit challenging Proposition 66 is pending before the California Supreme Court. Votes on the measure still are being counted, but it is winning by a narrow margin.

I’d love to see a court fine the ACLU out of existence for frivolous lawsuits.

Trump should appoint with that in mind. LOL

Knowing California, this is doubtless a Kabuki dance anyhow. That lefty place doesn’t want to snuff out anything except babies and righties.

However the ACLU is still demanding the execution of babies in less than eight months.

Nitrogen Asphyxiation - simply the cleanest, pain free method of execution.

Strap the condemned down, attach a a brain wave monitor, supply 1.1 atmospheres of 99% pure Nitrogen (industrial welding gas) via a breathing mask, condemned passes out, wait till the brain waves go flat, ventilate the room, cart off the condemned.

If they were consistent about both it would be far, far more understandable. (That’s where the Roman Catholic church is, more or less, though Crazy Evangelicals often beg to differ.)

But just this election season I got a political flyer begging me to vote for a moratorium on state executions, citing several prominent Roman Catholic figures (they don’t know I am not Roman Catholic, but a lot of people in my area are). Now if they would only say squat about abortions in these ads!!

“Death Row” —that makes me think of a single wing, a single, sad hallway, where the prisoners live...maybe 50 of them.

I just Googled it:

California now has ****SEVEN HUNDRED AND FORTY ONE*** people on “Death Row”.

That’s larger than many SCHOOLS.

I think if the guy dies before being executed, the State of Calif. should have to pay some HUGE amount of money to the victims’ surviving families.

There were two propositions on the state ballot

One eliminated the death penalty, the other made it easier to execute someone.

The anti death penalty failed.

The pro death penalty passed.

Of course liberals are taking it to court.

Now here is where the voters will be ignored. The state will not put up much of a fight and the ACLU will find a friendly judge and the the vote of the people will be overturned by the left.

Cute - but it happens every time the left loses a vote.

Of course the news media will not expose this farce.

It is a game the politician in Sacramento play with hot button items, They know the people want the death penalty and rather that over turn it directly they use the ballot and if the vote goes the wrong way they have friends take it to court.

Now the politician can say it was not them but the courts that did it. It is slick as it is dishonest but that is how the left works to get its way.

Also a little quirk in the law allows the plaintiff, the ACLU to recover its costs from the state. So the people get it up theirs twice.

And you know that we the taxpayers are paying the legal fees for the ACLU in this and all of their other lawsuits.

The old gas chamber in California had two seats; a “two-fer” if they could get the scheduling done right...

No they play basketball and have a great life. John an dKen did a bit about it some time ago. Peterson...the one who killed his wife and baby....he plays bb all day long.

They even had to have a suicide watch the last time people wanted the death penalty again.

things like this must stop. No justice for the ones the murdered, some brutally. ......just for the rabid killers. Pfft!
