We're awaiting a slew of cabinet announcements today from President-elect Donald Trump but one high profile campaign surrogate won't be named.
Dr. Ben Carson, who ran against Trump in the primary, has reportedly declined any kind of position inside the administration.
Before declining, Carson was on the short list for Secretary of Education and Health and Human Services. Raffi Williams over at Circa has the scoop:
According to Dr. Ben Carson's business manager Armstrong Williams, Dr. Ben Carson will not serve in President-elect Donald Trump's administration, a separate source confirmed that Carson was being offered a position as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Williams told Circa that Dr. Carson thinks he can, "best serve the President outside the administration."
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani, Senator Jeff Sessions, former Ambassador John Bolton and radio host Laura Ingraham are still in the running for a number of positions
I am disappointed also.
I, three, am also disappointed.
“I am disappointed, but I am sure Dr Ben Carson knows best.”
Agreed. I’m kind of sad and disappointed. I truly like Dr. Carson. Hoped to see more.
Carson might feel that he’s better suited to being a big-picture policy adviser than actually administering a department. I can’t say I blame him.
Very surprised. Thought for sure he’d be our Surgeon General.
Probably too big a pay cut.
I’m okay with this. The worst thing would be to have an appointee whose heart is not into a government post. The good doctor will still be around to help Trump push his agenda, which is fantastic.
I’m not too surprised, that is a huge administrative job and workload and not really what he’s experienced at doing. He was a great surgeon and might realize great practitioners often make terrible administrators.
I thought for sure he would be in the administration I’ll bet he is planning to run again in 4 years.
Why do we get our information from anything other than the source? Has anyone heard Carson says this? The media is so desperate to print anything.
Not disappointed.
NEA......should be gotten rid of, not the government’s job
HUD......should be gotten rid of, not the government’s job
HHS......should be gotten rid of, not the government’s job
Believe those were the posts he was being considered for. They should become empty chairs.
The man is brilliant. He should be passing that brilliance to the next three generations of fighter jock surgeons, not messing around with government.

Goooooood to be having these types of events, as opposed to concern for next month and the second amendment!
Cheers!
Need brain surgery? Great, anything else he is an idiot, watch the debates, his answer to Every question was either we need to start to talk about this ... fill in the blank or we need to start to Think about talking about these issues. Being a nice guy is not a qualification to be in the cabinet. Carson has less managerial experience than Obama
I am disappointed also, but I know Dr. Carson is interested in bettering education and has some organizations that he may think he could do more work with, implementing Trump policy and getting the people on board.
Me, too. A generous, kind man and a brilliant one. Bummed.
we all dodged a bullet
He is no high level executive or administrator
BTW Katie Pavich= #nevertrump
beware
I still cannot get excited about John Bolton. He’s too much of a warhawk.
I’m not. Nothing against Carson, but we don’t need the DoEd or an HHS.
I am also disappointed.
Could he be appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court...
