Is this legal? Busing the "older" folks to the voting booths, and...

Today, "a lady I know" who is a social worker, told me about how she was told by several of the older folks she has as clients, were all bused to their voting site, and were assisted by those who did the busing, and all of them were assisted to vote for Hillary, exclusively. Many of those elderly are over the age of 70 and don't follow politics, and frankly, don't care one way or the other, but, their votes went exclusively to Hillary.

Is that legal? Should it be outlawed? Should there be people from both sides of the political spectrum present when those ladies "have their votes cast for them"?

It’s certainly not legal to cast a vote for another person.

Providing rides to the polling places is legal. “Helping” fill out ballots is not.

If they’re of relatively sound mind, don’t believe it’s an issue. Last time, however, they were taking those with serious dementia and all to the polls. Can’t say there’s a law against it other than many kin should be notified first. But morally pathetic.

Why, rest homes vote 100% D even if the client has no mind. The staff makes sure.

One person one vote even if you have to pick up the hand to mark the ballot.

The federally subsidized elderly housing outfits should be fined and charged with elder abuse.

No, it is not legal to have strangers drive you to the polls and help you vote. There is limited assistance allowed by poll workers. Of course, when I was a poll watcher the Dems were constantly helping people find where Sheila Jackson Lee was on the ballot. That is all they cared about. I even saw the election judge take a ballot out to a car because the voter claimed she couldn’t get into the poll. I don’t know how she managed to get in the car. All I could do was report it, but I would bet it is rampant in every Democrat leaning polling place.

My grandfather did that for years as a Dim go-fer. I remember him showing a backseat-full of little old ladies who to vote for in the Primary.

I presume he did the same in the General.

It is not legal to help people vote or bribe them or influence the disabled to vote for someone.

My mom wants to vote but I am not letting her. She doesn’t understand even the presidential race. She wouldn’t know quite what to do in a voting booth nor remember what she did. I just told her she isn’t registered in this state.

Is this legal?

Get THIS: In Arizona, "community workers" can go door to door, collect mail-in or absentee ballots, and deliver them in bunches to counting stations.

This practice was recently made illegal by the AZ legislature, but a Federal judge issued an order to allow the practice to continue until November 9.

They don't even try to hide it anymore.

If they were simply given a lift to the polls, that’s not illegal or even unethical. Same with helping them in casting their ballots. Certainly nobody should be trying to get them to vote for one candidate or another. But simply taking them to the polls is not an issue.

Busing is fine. Social worker in the booth should not be.

I had a loudmouth ultra-liberal UAW butt-boy brag to me back in 2000 how he "helped" old folks at the local nursing home vote "the right way". (his exact words)

He was so damn proud of himself, he never batted an eye about telling this to someone he barely knew.

There are older people who do need help being able to vote. They do care about politics and do want to vote but can’t drive and are otherwise isolated. It is shame more family members won’t help out their elderly with these (and other) matters. I’ve helped older people to get State ID’s after their driving license had expired.

I don’t think it’s illegal to drive someone to the polls or helping them get an absentee ballot ... but forcing or coercing them to vote a certain way should be illegal.

There is a lot of bad info on this thread. The first question should be what state? In FL voters may receive assistance from a non related person if the proper form is filled out. One person may not assist multiple people. If you see any of this happening tomorrow, bring it to the attention of the poll captain. If they don’t fix it. Fill out the form to contest the ballot and force it to be recast as provisional.

In the case of a person needing to vote in their vehicle two election judges were to go out, one from each party...back when I was an EJ.

Rats used to bus the elderly and also they hit the insane asylum for vote registrations too.

The Democratic definition of get out the vote... as long as it’s only democrats doing it. Arizona made it illegal to even turn in somebody else’s mail in ballot... why would you need to, mail in, no stamp required here...

Maybe people on the right should stop sitting around shaking their fists at the practice every year and go do it themselves?

Whining abut it during voting, and then promptly not giving a crap afterwards, isnt making it go away.

Go find a retirement home, and take those people in and “help” them vote.

Maybe when the Dems cant take advantage of it anymore, then maybe they will stop.
