The NeverTrump movement is facing a nightmare scenario
Washington Post ^ | November 4, 2016 | Aaron Blake

Posted on 11/04/2016 12:58:10 PM PDT by C19fan

They assured each other he had no real shot of winning the presidency. They said he would be an embarrassment to the Republican Party and drag down the rest of the party with him, both in 2016 and for years to come.

To be sure, many arguments of the so-called “NeverTrump” movement in the Republican Party were based on mere principle. But some were more political pleas — that he was bad for the party, electorally speaking, and that Trump-inspired doom lay ahead.

It hasn't happened — at least, it hadn't as of the race's final week. Trump appears to be within shouting distance of winning the presidency, and the Republican base is as united in voting for him (87 percent of them are behind him) as Democrats are in voting for Hillary Clinton (also 87 percent), according to Friday's Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll.

In other words: It looks like the NeverTrumpers are leading a movement without a real base. And no matter what happens on Tuesday, they'll have a mess to clean up.

Something to look to on Election Night. It is one thing to not like Trump and keep quiet about it. It is an entirely different animal to go out of the way to attack Trump and act like that is not helping Clinton. As the Klingon proverb states "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Never Trump was never based on principals. It was based on ego and childish petulance that their their candidate of choice was rejecting by us filthy unwashed peasants out in fly over land.

There’s a mess to clean up, alright. But it ain’t us.

After Tuesday we are going to start some long needed housecleaning.

Those of us who were formally the base of the Republican party knew the Never Trumpers had no base. How could the media fall for THAT? Did they think Bill Kristol led a movement??? Why do I think that the Washington Post is just using this turn of events to destroy the pathetic reputations of Kristol, Krauthammer and Will? Levin just got in before the door closed but I’m not fooled.

When I read “Never Trumpers”, I thought about the media. They too will have a lot to clean up.

So do a lot of the RINO’s. I hope those get purged from leadership positions. Ryan should be the first.

I was a nevertrumper because of the problems I had with his stances and his temperament.

I changed when I saw improvements in the latter, and saw that Hillary had enough support to possibly win. That is simply not acceptable.

Frankly, the only issues I REALLY care about, in order of importance, are:

1. Supreme court.
2. Repeal of Obamacare
3. Elimination of anything AGW (global warming) related.

I’m voting for Trump.

If he wins the National Review/Romney/Bush crowd have destroyed themselves forever. He won without them. He owes them nothing.

If he looses they will get the blame for sabotaging him. Either way the NeverTrumpers have chosen the wrong horse and I, for one, will never forgive or forget.

In this time of supreme peril to the Republic they sided with the forces of darkness out of pettiness and greed. They can go to the Devil.

Adam Kinzinger (R) is a never Trumper and he even wanted to start an investigation on Trump. He’s running unopposed because he’s pure ‘establishment’ and already joined the good ol boys’ club of evil doers.

Never Trump is all about Conservatism, Inc. losing their status within the DC Establishment, along with the oney that goes along with it.

No matter what happens Tuesday, I will never look at The Bush Family or Mitt Romney the same again! They showed us their true faces.

It was based on money.

The backers/patrons of the various persons/orgs were against Trump, so of course their clients had to conform.

None of these exists by selling something directly to the Republican/conservative public. They live on the charity of their wealthy patrons. Cato, NR, Redstate, etc.

“If he wins the National Review/Romney/Bush crowd have destroyed themselves forever.”

No they haven’t. Its all about the bucks. If their patrons want them to continue with a given political line, they will, no matter what.

If Hillary (U) wins they’ll be fine. They’ll have 4-8 years of sucking up to their leader. And can celebrate their part of a new supreme court and “modern constitution” for decades.

If The Uniparty loses (Trump wins) they’ll have 4 years to be opposition leaders.

Either way they are on the side of 10s of millions of Democrats, communists, socialists and other anti-Americans. Seems like a pretty big base to me. A Trump win may be a nightmare to them, but it also is to all the other Uniparty supporters - they won’t be alone.

It’s not a Klingon proverb. It’s a saying that was current in France as far back as 1850.
