I had no idea that Michael Spann’s children were orphans. It’s sometimes hard to deal with the cruelty of this world - the senseless cruelty of this world. Theroux is a wealthy elitist. Only someone so insulated from the hardships of ordinary people could be so insensitive.

I can’t imagine the pain you and others feel for Spann. The hated Lindh should have been like the Man without a Country - forced to never see America again - a perpetual flying Dutchman sailing the high seas until he dies.

So let OBASTARD pardon him; there will be somebody out there who will remember he got good men killed because of his traitorous actions, if the target is moving you just have to lead it a little.

Reading Paul Theroux's "Mother Land" right now.

May not make it through the whole book. It's somewhat autobiographical (Theroux says it's 60% so).

Theroux is apparently a very bitter man who never got over how his parents raised him.

Liked "Mosquito Coast" however, that's the only reason I picked up this book in the first place.
