An employee of a jewelry store in Conroe, Texas, pulled an AK-47 from behind the counter to stop four would-be armed robbers. One of the armed robbers opened fire and multiple employees returned fire, killing the suspect.
Jeffery Turner, Jr., owner of Jeff’s Jewelry Store in Conroe, told police that four men entered his store and demanded jewelry, purses and other items. At least one of the robbers displayed a firearm, according to Montgomery County Police Reporter’s Scott Engle. One of Turner’s employees responded by pulling an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle from behind the counter. The gunman fired at the store employees and a firefight ensued. At least three employees were said to have fired weapons at the robbery suspects.

Bet that scared the heck out of the robbers. I love this story!
But it did answer the question on why a law abiding citizen might need an AK-47.
We can only hope they had surveillance video to catch the fun.
I’m totally OK with this.
There’s one less scumbag out walking the streets...one less scumbag to terrorize and rob others.
Hopefully, the dead guy’s friends will get an inkling of how close it came to being them in the county morgue and will clean up their lives.

Read one account by a cop in the 70s who got into a shootout inside a car, he was behind the wheel, the bad guy was on the passenger’s side of the front seat. They emptied their guns, 6-shot revolvers, and neither one was hit. Now this was back in the 70s when a Ford LTD or something similar had an acre of space between the driver and passenger, but still, it shows what adrenaline can do in these situations.
Now the thugs who survived are a problem.
Don’t mess with Texas.

Looks like they did just fine for themselves.
With three employees firing I would hope at least two of the scumbags would be DRT and the other two leaving blood trails.
Obviously didn’t happen:
1. An AK is a weapon of war that has no place on American streets
2. A good guy with a gun never stops a crime.
3. A civilian never needs more than 7 rounds or whatever arbitrary number your master randomly come up with.
4. Guns can’t be used for self defense only mass murder.
5. A gun with always be taken from you and used against you
6. You don’t need an assault rifle for deer hunting
Obviously, the robbers just saw the “no robbers” sign and turned themselves in to the police.
Between the two they fired 20 shots. Neither one was hit.
During the gunfight, they were both in an elevator.
Are existing, owned high (normal) capacity pistol magazines illegal in California retroactively now?
Still, it’s a happy ending that one is taking a dirt nap.
