My wife of 20 years decided she didn’t want to be married any more. This was 19 years ago. She lives in an old motorhome in a trailer park in Arizona that I can only describe as similar to the one in Raising Arizona.

She never remarried because, at my IT income levels, she’ll get a good SS monthly check when the time comes.

They have proven themselves unworthy of real investment.
A man has no need to kill himself maximize earning potential if there is no family to provide for.
I retired at 56, house paid off in Silicon Valley, owe no $$$ to anyone, modest pension with plenty of savings for toys & travel.
Life is good and there is no greedy unhappy jerk with a hand in my wallet.

Old Fang is stuck with Twinkie. We’ve been married 52
years. I think we both could have done worse, although
Fang has a couple of times thought he wanted shed of
Twinkie. He has needed a serious nursemaid for the past
35 yrs., and I seriously doubt that the women he
considered ditching me for would have put up with him,
much less cared for him in sickness & in health. I also
doubt that his SIL would cater to him either. Not
romantic; but real life rarely is romantic.

I wonder if Brad and Angelina’s divorce will result in any more trauma for their children - natural, adopted, or space alien - than if the two nutcases had stayed married.

Divorce Porn, like Eat Pray Love, has done immense harm to families. I have seen a number of women blow up perfectly good marriages because they decide they just weren't haaaaapy with Mister Boring ad Steady anymore. In every case, they ended up worse off.

Also, I know that men sometimes blow up their marriages because they want a trophy wife or girlfriend, but the media never encourage their behavior by telling them it's acceptable. Women are made to feel that they're doing something heroic when they betray their husbands and children for selfish reasons.
