The Junior Prom
Townhall.com ^ | October 6, 2016 | Derek Hunter

It’s over. The vice presidential debate has ended. But you wouldn’t know it because Sen. Tim Kaine is still talking over everyone.

Yes, it’s the “junior prom,” but it does matter. One of these two men will be a heartbeat from the presidency come January, whether you like it or not. Given Hillary Clinton’s mysterious health issues, that's nothing to sniff at on the Democratic side.

One of these men – Pence – will have the opportunity to advise a president on such important issues as the economy and national security. The other probably will be outside the room pressing his ear to a glass held against the door.

If you think there’s any way Hillary would ever trust Kaine, or anyone not already inside her protective circle of unindicted co-conspirators, with anything important or even remotely resembling trust you have not been paying attention. Having seen Kaine “debate” for 90 minutes, I can see why she might add an extra lock on that door.

For all the talk of Trump’s erratic statements, the senator from Virginia made Donald look like a rock. Kaine acted like the guy no one will admit to having invited to the party.

I’m not sure who decided to send Kaine to the School for Being an Insufferable Jerk in Debates, and I’m glad Hillary hasn’t made it taxpayer funded yet. But whoever paid for it sure got their money’s worth. From the opening question till the end of the night, Kaine demonstrated the self-control of a meth head.

How many times can one man interrupt another in 90 minutes? Turns out the answer is 70. Though, in fairness to Sir Tweeks-A-Lot, he could have done more if the moderator had not stepped in and done it herself so many times.

Honestly, I’d never heard of Elaine Quijano from CBS News before Tuesday night. In fairness to Quijano, I’m not 85, so I don’t watch CBS.

Still, she was a terrible debate moderator. The questions, as much as you can call them that, were incredibly biased. The toughest question for Kaine was about the Russian “reset” failure by Hillary. Kaine blamed it on Putin, as if he’d duped the smartest woman to ever exist. If Hillary is so brilliant at foreign policy, how was she taken for a ride by Putin?

It doesn’t really matter, Kaine didn’t answer the question anyway. Just like he didn’t answer any question throughout the night.

Kaine followed the Clinton campaign playbook – respond to a question with a platitude, an empty promise and an attack on Trump.

Hillary Clinton thinking Tim Kaine is a good choice for a running mate is like her choosing some mid-level staffer to set up a non-secure secret server in her house to handle classified material, thereby threatening national security. I mean, who would do something that crazy and reckless, right? Wait, never mind.

The night wasn’t a complete bust. While Kaine was grinding his teeth and hoping his high would last till the end of the debate, Pence was actually – dare I say it – presidential. A first for this election.

Mike Pence’s performance, had it been delivered by Trump in the first debate, would’ve put this race nearly out of reach. It’s a sad reminder that nearly anyone in the GOP field would have this race in the bag. Hillary is that awful.

As it stands, if Trump watched and is willing to learn from Tuesday night, we could be back to having a race on our hands. Guess we’ll find out Sunday night.

It was a hands-down victory for Pence. The Clinton campaign has to be happy it can ship Kaine back to small diners and high-dollar fundraisers and out of the public eye. If you plan to attend one, hide the bath salts. Better safe than sorry.

Pence is an impressive man with an impressive resume and grasp of policy, both the little and big picture. More importantly, he has a comfort level in talking about issues and policy that no one else in this race does. Expect the media to ignore him as much as possible going forward.

Yesterday I was listening to Michael Medved. Although he didn’t actually say it, it became crystal clear yesterday that he’s, for all intents and purposes, come out of the closet for Hillary.

I agree with him on his points about Trump, and I was shocked that he used the phrase “strong man” to describe Trump because it is the phrase I used to describe him in 2015, and it is code.

The difference between Medved and me, though, is that hillary is not an option. It would take Satan himself to run as the Republican before I’d vote for Hillary, and even then I’d probably just write in something.

I was wondering, in 2012, if Medved was just a uniparty mouthpiece. Turns out that is exactly what he is. And he confirmed it yesterday. I really hoped he wasn’t going in that direction, but he did it yesterday.

The proof: Two things. First, he “hinted” that though a lot of people think Hillary is a monster, he didn’t think a lot of the evidence is anything more than mountains out of molehills (my words, not his).

The second thing was this: When a caller asked, and I paraphrase, “what if trump was forced out of office because of a lawsuit or something, then we would have Pence, which would be great!”, medved literally played the “he’ll get the military and take over the government by force” card. That was when he mentioned the strong man.

I was dumbfounded.

Medved has removed the veil. For a couple of months now, listening to him felt like listening to Air America. Now I know why. The election has exposed another liberal sleeper.

Hillary is unlikable and untrustworthy. Tim Kaine dId nothing to help the ticket appear otherwise.

I think it’s clear that Pence came off the winner in the VP debate. But does anyone really care? Round two of the main event is Sunday.

Yesterday I put on Facebook that a vote Hillary is really a vote for Kaine for president.

Yeah. Somebody mentioned that a few weeks ago. I think he’s a wolf in sheeps clothing but it’s frayed significantly at the edges. It’s very easy to see what’s going on there. He’s trying to edge people to his thinking.

Whatever qualms anyone might still have about Trump, it is clearly essential for our country that Hillary not be elected President, and he's the only one who can prevent it.

Bill O'Reilly played a clip last night from 2011 of Obama ridiculing Trump for five minutes at a White House dinner...really nasty and unfunny (except to some of the Democrats in the room). Really showed Obama's true personality.

Obama hates Trump so much that I wouldn't put it past him to have him "liquidated" (as the Soviets used to term it) if it looks like he will beat Hillary.

I would opine that it is actually a vote for Bill. If the Democrat Party, the media, the GOPe, are able to steal the election for Hillary, Kaine’s days on this earth after her swearing in will numbered in the low digits. He would soon after the swearing in ceremony either have an accident or commit suicide. Then she would bring Bill and install him in Kaine’s place. It would not be legal or Constitutional, but what have the Democrats done in the last 10 years that has been legal or Constitutional? And last but not least, who would oppose her? The Democrat Party? The Republican Party? The Courts? The media?

That would certainly cause unpleasantness. If you get my drift.

...
Medved must be Yiddish for stupid.
I submit he does it for selfish reasons...his in crowd he doesn’t want to be cut off from...when he was a Romney or McCain guy, there was no risk...those rinos would have gone along with libs in congress anyway, not real conservatives nor constitutionalist.

The ‘in crowd’ is changing...the deplorables are the new in crowd. Deal with it.

If they try it, it will be presented as an accident (”suicide” would be too unbelievable), but they would find that at least 50% of the public wouldn’t buy that explanation.

Medved’s show was cancelled in upstate SC. Ratings locally I guess were in the tank, combined with a drop in ad $$$. He stunk. Got sick of listening. Glad he’s gone.

It wouldn’t be enough. Especially since the 50% would contain most of the beta males, while the other side contains most of the alpha males.

A few years ago he was my favorite. I considered him by far the smartest and most well informed. I confess that I was confused by his strong support of Christians, considering his Jewish beliefs. I guess it’s just to fill seats on his Israel tours.

Medved is Russian for "bear." Similar forms in other Slavic languages. Originally a euphemism--"the honey-eater" (bad luck to say the real word for bear, as one might show up and eat you).
