Taxes are paid by corporations on profits from the business.

The New York Times did not start out as a non-profit enterprise.

It just happened.

>>G.E. has also been Tax Free for a few years<<

Every tax season, some tax watchdog comes out with a list of tens of dozens of corporations paying Zero taxes.

Hey, takes $$money$$ to shelter money.

.....wonder when the NYT will own up to the fact that one of it owners----who bailed them out when they were floundering----is in thick w/ the Clintons? Read on.......

CARLOS SLIM--Clinton buddy and fellow investor.

The Clintons' Colombian connection: a secret investment fund; Carlos Slim an investor
(11/27/15--NYPost Ed)

Even as 2016 Hillary Clinton is upping her anti-Wall Street rhetoric, here comes word that the Clinton Foundation is running a private-equity company down in Colombia.

Obama lacerated the private-equity field b/c it's where Mitt Romney earned his fortune — and resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars worth of negative ads launched from the Obama campaign back in 2008.

The Clinton Foundations Bogota-based firm, Fondo Acceso, was started in 2010 by Bill Clinton, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim and mining magnate Frank Giustra, with seed funding of $20 million from the foundation’s Clinton-Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative and the SLIM Foundation, the Washington Free Beacon reports.

Anything to hide here? Well, Fondo Acceso took down its Web site once the Beacon broke the story. And the venture wasn’t even registered as a private equity fund in Colombia, thereby skirting government oversight. A good move for an investment firm linked to the US secretary of state.

Ken Boehm, a watchdog with the National Legal and Policy Center, notes, "At the minimum, the Clinton Foundation should disclose every company that received investment funds from them, because the tax-paying public is entitled to know whether those money-making companies benefited from any State Department foreign-aid programs using their tax dollars."

Not to mention the ethical murk of having two Clinton connected charities co-own an investment fund in a developing dirt-poor nation (that is cravenly throwing its sick, infected, poverty-stricken natives over the US border to ride the US gravy train).

Especially when one of those charities is the Clinton family nonprofit---- that includes a presidential candidate who has raised tens of millions from the financial sector she’s promising to reform.

Does Hillary Clinton have a nonhypocritical bone in her body?

========================================

Why Colombia? Read on.

Every aspect of the Bill Clinton presidency must be examined for wrongdoing; due to news reports WRT the notoriously greedy Clintons used their tax-exempt Clinton Foundation charity to setup a money-making private equity fund in the corrupt country of 1/20.

WIKI REFERENCE---In 2000, the Clinton administration committed $1.3 billion in foreign aid to the corrupt country of Columbia...... and up to five hundred military personnel to train local forces.

An additional three hundred civilian personnel were allowed to assist in the eradication of coca. This aid was an addition to $330 million of previously approved US aid to Colombia. $818 million was earmarked for 2000, with $256 million for 2001.

The Clinton-era appropriations for his Columbia Plan made Colombia the third largest recipient of foreign aid from the United States at the time.

--SNIP--

As of 2008, the U.S. has provided nearly $1.3 billion to Colombia through Clinton Plan Colombia nonmilitary aid programs:

<><> Alternative Development (2000-2008 cost: $500 million)

<><> Internally Displaced Persons (2000-2008 cost: $247 million)

<><> Demobilization and Reintegration (2000-2008 cost: $44 million)

<><> Democracy and Human Rights (2000-2008 cost: $158 million)

<><> Promote the Rule of Law (2000-2008 cost: $238 million)

==============================================

NYP--CIRCA 2008

Former President Bill Clinton has earned hundreds of thousands of dollars speaking on behalf of a Colombia-based group pushing the free trade pact, and representatives of that organization tell The Huffington Post that the former president shared their sentiment.

In June 2005, Clinton was paid $800,000 by the Colombia-based Gold Service International to give four speeches throughout Latin America. The organization is, ostensibly, a development group tasked with bringing investment to the country and educating world leaders about the Colombia’s business opportunities.

The group’s chief operating officer, Andres Franco, said in an interview that the group supports the congressional ratification of the free trade agreement and that, when Clinton was on his speaking tour, he expressed similar opinions.

“He was supportive of the trade agreement at the time that he came, but that was several years ago. In the present context, I don’t know what his position would be. It is not only about union trade rights. It is about what benefit or damage it can do to the US economy,” said Franco. “Events with the Clinton campaign [concerning Mark Penn] are not good at all for the trade agreement... Right now it became a campaign issues and that is sad, because it needs to go through.”

The comments were supported by a June 23, 2005 article from the news portal Terra (uncovered by Ben Smith at Politico) in which Clinton offered unambiguous support for the free trade agreement with Colombia.

They appear to be the first public indication that Pres Clinton has, at least in the past, supported the trade deal. But evidence that the former president has been sympathetic to Colombia’s position is widely known.

In 2007, Clinton met personally with and accepted an award from Colombia’s controversial president, Alvaro Uribe, during a time when the country was attempting to improve its image within the United States. Subsequently, Clinton urged Congress to view the country in a more favorable light.

Moreover, Clinton has helped mining mogul, Frank Giustra, a 100 million dollar donor to the Clinton Global Initiative, score meetings with high-ranking Colombian officials. Giustra has several business interests in the country, and both he and Clinton have collaborated on an effort to fight poverty in developing world by partnering up with mining companies in Colombia and elsewhere.

Of course, it’s OK for the New York Times to take advantage of the tax laws, but not Donald Trump, because he’s an eeeeevil Republican.

Just wait until it comes out that the person that signed the law that allowed for Trump’s deduction was none other than Bill Clinton.

MORE ON CARLOS SLIM (NYT PART-OWNER)

CARLOS SLIM, FRANK GIUSTRA AND BILL CLINTON
posed as philanthropists as they bilked the world’s energy resources

By Brenda Norrell / Feb 2015
WEB SITE http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2015/02/swiss-leak-mining-magnate-and-clinton.html

Leaked Swiss bank files show the Clinton Foundation was funded by a Canadian mining magnate who created uranium and gold mines around the world -- devastating Indigenous Peoples and their lands -- leaving behind a trail of death of mining resisters from Guatemala and Mexico to Africa and Asia.

While bilking the world’s energy resources, Canadian mining magnate Frank Giustra posed as a philanthropist. Giustra cut deals for uranium mining in Kazakhstan on tour with Bill Clinton. Giustra then donated $31 million of uranium mining dollars to the Clinton Foundation. This is just one example of the millions flowing to the Clinton Foundation from the mining magnate as they posed as philanthropists.

Carlos Slim Helú, the Mexican businessman, and one of the richest persons in the world, joined with Giustra and Clinton. They posed as philanthropists fighting "world hunger" while bilking the world’s energy resources.

Posing as philanthropists, Clinton flew to Africa to "fund raise for the poor" with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, now the center of a global probe into pedophiles and child sex abuse. Now Giustra is advising Endeavour Mining on new gold mining in Africa.

==========================================

According to the Guardian newspaper: Leaked files from HSBC’s Swiss banking division reveal the identities of seven donors to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation with accounts in Geneva.

They include Frank Giustra, a Canadian mining magnate and one of the foundation’s biggest financial backers, and Richard Caring, the British retail magnate who, the bank’s internal records show, used his tax-free Geneva account to transfer $1 m into the New York-based Clinton Foundation.

Another Clinton foundation donor who had a HSBC account in the tax haven is Jeffrey Epstein, the hedge fund manager and convicted sex offender who once flew the former president on his private jet for charity events in Africa. The identities of Clinton supporters who banked with HSBC in Geneva are contained in internal bank data leaked by a HSBC computer expert turned whistleblower, Hervé Falciani.

Giustra's bio shows he is an early architect of many resource companies, including Wheaton River Minerals (now known as the $33B Goldcorp, which spun out the $12B Silver Wheaton), Petro Rubiales (now the $7B Pacific Rubiales), and Urasia Energy, Geo.ca reports. (emphasis added)

They just keep spinning out a never ending series of hit jobs, but as soon as they appear they backfire in their face, sinking their credibility deeper into the muck, if that were even possible.

G.E. has also been Tax Free for a few years

And for the same reason. GE wrote down a substantial part of their business and took a huge loss.

Progressives made all kinds of noise because GE was "paying no taxes on record profits". It played well in their echo chamber, but was lost on people that actually knew the tax laws and GE's situation.

Unfortunately, the latter group was very small.
