2 Clinton supporters in ’08 reportedly shared Obama ‘birther’ story
McClatchy DC ^ | September 16, 2016 | David Goldstein

WASHINGTON — Two supporters of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign reportedly shared the claim that then-rival Barack Obama was not born in the United States and thus was not eligible to be president.

One was a volunteer in Iowa, who was fired, Clinton’s former campaign manager said Friday. The other was Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal, according to a former McClatchy Washington Bureau chief.

The issue arose Friday as Donald Trump finally acknowledged that Obama was born in the U.S. Trump, a leading champion of the debunked “birther” conspiracy theory for years, attempted to blame Clinton for starting it when she ran against Obama in 2008 for the Democratic presidential nomination....

Meanwhile, former McClatchy Washington Bureau Chief James Asher tweeted Friday that Blumenthal had “told me in person” that Obama was born in Kenya.

“During the 2008 Democratic primary, Sid Blumenthal visited the Washington Bureau of McClatchy Co.,” Asher said in an email Friday to McClatchy, noting that he was at the time the investigative editor and in charge of Africa coverage.

“During that meeting, Mr. Blumenthal and I met together in my office and he strongly urged me to investigate the exact place of President Obama’s birth, which he suggested was in Kenya. We assigned a reporter to go to Kenya, and that reporter determined that the allegation was false.

Clinton's selective memory - probably due to the concussion or something. She lies all the time and the MSM doesn't care.

Going to throw this out to all Freepers: Could it be that Herself threw out the birther thing as a shot across the bow to Nobama when she learned that there was talk about replacing her? That if Trump got caught in the crosshairs (which he didnt) would be a bonus? It’s hard for me to believe that Herself’s campaign didnt know that they themselves started those rumors during the 2008 presidential campaign.

They knew-—they are hoping that the ignorant, uninformed sheeple believe evil lies about Trump. It is their typical M.O. They try everything and do that Marxist thing of repeating lies over and over until it becomes the Truth. MSM is the echo chamber.

It is exactly how Common Core is set up-—to repeat lies over and over with misinformation inserted, so that when children are through the group-think factories, they will be ignorant, uniformed, useful idiots who can be culled and controlled their whole life—Slaves to the psychopathic, irrational sodomites, who believe males are females and interchangeable and Vice is Virtue and Slavery is Freedom.

I had heard that Hilary started the birther thing. Then a friend said Fox said they had investigated and that was not true. But that Hilary’s advisors started it, that fits just right. That they brought it up this week - just more stink from the skunk.

Clinton is desperate to stop the bleeding. She brought up this whole thing to pander to blacks. This was coordinated with the CBC who appeared on cue to back her up. They’d start a race war if they believed it would help them win.

Expect more hijinks like this in the next few weeks. They have to do something dramatic to get the black vote out.

The rest of the media got their info on Hilary’s birther information from the Washington Post.

With the assistance of the enemy Media. I was watching the 'News' tonight and the local propagandists were quick to label Trump's comment that the Birther issue was first raised by the Clinton campaign as a 'falsehood'

I remember. Clinton could not state it herself - the Dems count on the blacks voting 98% for Dems, and she could not risk alienating this block - so her minions were basically begging the McCain campaign to run with it. McCain, of course, refused.

I don't know who started it, but I first became aware of it during the Democratic primary season in the winter of 2007-08. It was being spread by HRC partisans. Clinton now claims these were fringe people acting on their own. The alternative view is that Clinton wanted to retain plausible deniability but to launch the story in a dirty tricks, whispering campaign kind of way. Sid Blumenthal surfacing as a source lends credence to this.

The scattering of newspaper stories and headlines about a Kenyan birth, not to mention the Obama bio in the publisher's catalogue, long predate Obama getting into politics, so there is reason to believe that Obama himself was the original birther.

In any event, Trump was a latecomer to the story.

"Fox said they had investigated and that was not true. But that Hilary’s advisors started it, that fits just right."

Why is it that when Cruz's advisors spread the CNN story that Carson was leaving, Cruz was responsible, but when Hillary's advisors spread a story, Hillary isn't responsible?

Barack Obama was born in Rachuonyo District[3] on the shores of Lake Victoria just outside Kendu Bay, British Kenya, at the time a colony and protectorate of the British Empire.

She is not pandering for the black vite....she is fighting for it!

They see their core slipping away and the core wasn’t even excited to begin with.

This is phase 1 of shoring up and holding onto the base.

Next phase is (already started with the equal pay stuff) white women who work outside the house.

Then phase 3 will be labor unions.

If they can get phases 1 and 2 working they have a shot at pulling the election out in their minds.

But Trumps attack on their core block of voters with “whats do you have to lose” is very effective especially because they are so disinterested in her anyway.

And Trumps push for working women with his paid maternity leave stuff works the same angle with white working women.....who can feel he will keep them safe and their pocket books flush.

She offered young adults free college and loan forgiveness, yet they still don’t like her. They apparently believed Bernie’s promises about that, but they don’t seem to believe Clinton.

Asher said he sent a reporter to Kenya to check it out. He is not naming the reporter, which is probably a good move. I bet there is an expense report from 2008 showing the trip and a trip report saying nothing was found.

Thanks for explaining, sphinx. I thot it was HRC ‘operatives’ that she could deny, too. And I believe HRC brought it up again to try to trip Trump up. He got the last word, haha.
