The average American has a highly distorted liberal-biased view of reality as a result of the entertainment industry’s constant propaganda.
It’s all Perry Mason’s fault.
That very popular TV show taught America the lies that the average defendant in a criminal case was innocent and that defense attorneys only cared about the truth.
The reality is that most criminal defendants are guilty of something and defense attorneys are concerned about making money even if that means helping child rapists, drug dealers, and murderers get back on the street.
That doesn’t mean that everyone doesn’t deserve a fair trial, but by misrepresenting reality, Perry Mason softened American’s up for the liberal policies of the Warren Court that were based on the supposition that the police were constantly framing innocent people for crimes they didn’t commit.
Since then police shows have worked relentlessly to brainwash Americans into thinking that the real problems in America are malevolent cops, crooked businessmen, evil doctors, or perverted clergymen, not gang members, career criminals, prostitutes, or drug dealers.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is the natural end state of the liberal media’s crusade to portray cops as bad and drug using/dealing gang members as good.

I can see how CSI series can make viewers expect unrealistic level of evidence, but Matlock usually won his cases by finding the real criminal and not by any legal arguments.
I used to believe in the FBI, and remembered the FBI Story, the TV series, and the like. I thought the FBI was an independent and trustworthy agency. Incorruptible.
Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, Comey, et al, have disabused me of those notions.
I used to think the DOJ was interested in Justice.

I love the old Perry Mason shows. I usually watch two a day on METV. I don’t think it is a good example. For one thing it did not show the defendants as being treated unfairly as much as victims of circumstances.
The first show to really push the liberal agenda was “The Defenders”
BTW, my favorite character was Lieutenant Tragg. He was the only character in the show who could always hold his own with Perry. He was also usually kind to the defendants, guilty or not. Also Erle Stanley Garder struck me as pretty conservative.
Earle Stanley Gardner was a good read.... Problem with the thesis is it is incorrect. Ironsides, dragnet, law and order, CSI and countless other shows portrayed cops as generally good This piece represents the simplistic thinking of too many people

Agreed. I liked watching the Perry Mason shows when I was a teenager who liked watching the classics (when my peers liked “Miami Vice” and “Cosby Show” back in the 1980s). Very well written shows and I guess that it was one of those that ended up being imitated over the years to more fit the Hollywood liberal agenda to what we have now. Wasn’t there a TV series called “The FBI” back in the 1960s? That is a title that I’ve never seen (even in reruns) and would not mind watching one or two episodes if it is worth a look.
I also liked “Matlock” since Nancy Stafford was one of my TV crushes back then, lol.
Efram Zimbalist Jr played in that FBI show.
Yes “The FBI” starred very conservative Christian, Efrim Zimbalist Jr. Not sure of the spelling of his name. His Daughter Stephanie was unusually pretty but struck me as a bit odd.
“Perry Mason” several times had anti-Communist themes. Some showing Red China as the bad guys.
I know about the real Raymond Burr but Perry Mason was a first rate series.
Ironside was another really well done program.
Stephanie Zimbalist was the best part of Remington Steele.
When EZ died, I read of a charity that donations be made to instead of flowers and the like.
I wrote a small check and a couple weeks later, I got a kind card in the mail from the Zimbalist family, signed by a fellow called Skip if I remember correctly.
There were a couple with the theme. Another was going against the east Germans.
Sgt.Shultz was in that episode.
Col. Klink was also in a couple of episodes.
About ten years ago there was a short lived series called Justice. It was a typical defence attorney show with one twist: in the last segment the viewer was shown what really happened. Sometimes the accused was 100% guilty and the “heroes” of the show got him off. It was an interesting twist on the typical legal drama where every defendant is falsely accused.
I looked up an online gallery devoted to Perry Mason guest stars. A young Uncle Jesse (Denver Pyle without his beard) was in one episode. Among others are Bert Convy, Barbara Eden, and a host of Star Trek TOS actors (Barry Atwater, William Campbell, Kathie Browne, DeForest Kelley, Elisha Cook, Madlyn Rhue). Big treasure trove of actors including also Burt Reynolds and Robert Redford in their younger days, lol.
And indeed both Klink and Schultz were on this show.

If you want to have fun, track down some of the original Perry Mason BOOKS at the library or wherever. I lucked into a box of the paperbacks for five bucks and had a great time reading all of them. They’re creative, intelligent and lots of fun.
The Wild Bill Hickok TV series of the fifties had an episode where the good looking guy turned out to be the bad guy, and the ugly guy was the good guy. Guy Madison advised us young viewers to not use looks in determining who is who.
I was gobsmacked.

I’ve read several of Perry Mason books when I was younger. I really enjoyed them.
