Marco Rubio introduces bill scrutinizing gun sales to terror suspects

Former Presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio on Thursday highlighted a bill aimed at keeping guns away from suspected terrorists as he fights a tough reelection bid to keep his Senate seat.

The legislation, which fails to mention No Fly Lists, would require the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s be notified of any request to transfer a firearm to an individual who was the subject of a federal terrorism investigation within the last 10 years.

“This bill would achieve everyone’s goal of making it harder for suspected terrorists to buy guns, and do so without violating the due process and Second Amendment rights of innocent, law-abiding Americans,” Rubio said in a statement. He described the measure, the Terror Intelligence Improvement Act, as building on and improving “the best ideas that have been proposed,” so bipartisan support is more likely.

Under the proposal, the FBI would house federal intelligence investigations; require the FBI Director’s office and the Joint Terrorism Task Force be notified if a federal terror suspect attempts to buy a firearm through a licensed dealer; and allow the U.S. Attorney General to delay the transfer for three days while seeking a court order to stop it. Should the court deny the petition, the government would assume the costs and attorney fees.

Another incompetent law crafted by sociopaths that is not even designed to accomplish what it claims and if it was, in any way, manner or sort, effective, it’d simply be ignored by enforcement... just like so many of the other laws on this issue.

Too convoluted, sounds like a game of Twister.
Just notify the FBI if someone on some speculative ‘list’ buys a gun.
Leave it at that. No rights violated, no court costs, if the FBI has reason to investigate the person they can go ahead- just as it’s always been.

I urge you to call your congresscritters and demand that any new law using the no-fly list or terrorist watch list MUST include a clause that ensures all citizens their due process rights. No one knows how you get on the no-fly list or how to get off - IT IS A HUGE SECRET.

I have been denied a purchase last month and now find there is no way to appeal it through NICS/FBI because boy king reassigned the entire appeals staff to other duties. I am considering suing the FEDs but am sure I cannot afford it. Right now I retained an attorney and we trying to get the reason for denial out of NICS, but there is no one there to even open the mail.

There is still a NICS staff there when you call as they are handling a huge surge in NICS checks, but the APPEALS staff is no more. NICS will not tell you anything over the phone because of privacy laws. This boy king event happened and was reported by NRA-ILA in January 2016.

On the NICS Appeal web site they state they are currently processing Jun 2015 appeals however there is no one there!!!!

WHERE IS THE GOPee??????????????????????????? Hiding under their desks - why is this so difficult?

1. How about keeping the f’ing terrorists OUT of our country, and deporting (or imprisoning/shooting) those we find here?

2. How does one find out that one is on “the list,” and how does one go about getting one’s name removed from “the list?” IOW, where’s the damned DUE PROCESS here?

3. I have news for Little Marco - and anyone else interested in such an utterly STOOOOPID law - I could watch YouTube videos, and buy approximately $1,000 worth of non-regulated parts for guns (including an 80% complete receiver - which is NOT regulated) and the requisite tools, and have a complete, working firearm in a matter of a couple of days from start to finish. So can ANYONE else who has the ability to operate a computer and change a tire. IOW, the whole exercise is POINTLESS - bad people WILL get guns, even if they literally have to make them.
