When Hillary Clinton called half of Trump supporters a basket of deplorables, I said it would not move the polls more than 1%. My thinking is that we have three types of voters:
1. The Deplorables who already made up their minds for Trump.
2. Clinton supporters who already made up their minds for Clinton.
3. Undecideds who dont care about stuff like this. Thats why they are undecided. And most of them probably have decided. They just dont want to admit it.
All by itself, the deplorable gaffe wouldnt be much of an issue in the long run. Clinton had time to apologize and recover from it.
But then Clinton collapsed with some sort of health problem perhaps pneumonia at the 9-11 anniversary event. The optics of a potential commander-in-chief collapsing at that holy place, and on an important anniversary, rendered her unelectable in my opinion. I base that prediction on how people will associate her health issues with the need to have a reliable commander-in-chief. Persuasion-wise, thats a hole you dont get out of.
But the 9-11 situation had another impact that I didnt realize until today. It weaponized Clintons earlier gaffe about the deplorables..

You know - GOP establishment types, so-called conservative pundits and of course the MSM.
“There are people like that but most go to whoever looks good to them.”
Yes, and they’ll be waffling back and forth depending on what the latest “breaking news” is.
The undecided should be called the unprincipled - since they have no firm principles to guide them. They sift through minutiae and get inundated with all the microfacts and opinions and become so overwhelmed that they don’t know up from down.
I actually know a few people like that.
“Our next president will either be an offensive, rich, divisive, bigot with a bad haircut or Donald Trump. #Trump #Clinton Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) September 12, 2016”
Great quote!
Load of crap.
Adams did an interview back in November of last year and noted all of Trump’s features. He even noted that Trump had used tactics common in the hypnotist field. Trump’s message and the method of delivery....all aimed at the guy on the street, not the elite intellectual type.
I think Adam’s view is that from a leadership prospective...you would be getting a CEO as president, not a politician. There are good CEOs and bad CEOs....but Trump appears to have some of the finer qualities.
Trump is comfortable around ordinary people.
Hillary hobnobs with the elite in the Hamptons.
Its an election of contrasts.
You do realize that outside of FR sarcasm doesn't have a /s tag? Adams hasn't actually ever said he supports Trump, or Hillary, just that Trump will win. When anti-Trump lefties were attacking Trump supporters and he started receiving death threats, he wrote a column stating that he was officially declaring his support for Hillary because it's becoming too dangerous to say anything else. That's very blatant sarcasm.
Sarcasm seems to be unrecognizable this election season.
Regardless, Adams is right when he says Hillary is toast.
He doesn’t have to be a Trump supporter to be sarcastic about supporting Hillary. It’s quite possible to be a supporter of neither, but I do think he prefers Trump.
I dunno, I kind of like the “sneeze fart” line better
Scott Adams wants to sell as many books and Dilbert gear as he can. He has to play on the fence, otherwise he loses half his market. He’s a humorist/cartoonist’s version of a major corporate CEO who donates 10k to both political parties. He wants his cake.....and he wants his cake.
Ceteris parabus, we could see people skeptical about the pneumonia explanation (but too “decent” to fly their skepticism high) go with the deplorables comment to back up their stated reason to hate Hillary. Fake because, rationalization, whatever. This does NOT include freepers, who are dedicated for different reason. This is the Joe Schmoe who barely knows the two candidates apart and wants a reason to choose one over the other.
Scott is not woofing, I believe; he has seen this in corporate America (and I’ve seen it there too having faced off with it in perhaps over-eager idealism).
Are you from Rio Linda?
>>3. Undecideds who dont care about stuff like this. Thats why they are undecided. And most of them probably have decided. They just dont want to admit it
At this point, an Undecided is a person who is too stupid to be allowed to vote, drive, operate heavy machinery, or handle power tools.
This election isn’t about “who will build better roads”. It’s about what kind of nation do we want to be in the future: the America that worked for 200 years or a Marxist hellhole where everything is free....or would be free if it was on the shelves.
Stop posting. Just shut up and vote.
A post like yours costs us respect because moron's like you insist on speaking.
Leave that to others, any others, in the future for Trump's and our good.
Me thinks Mr. Adams is a very intelligent person. His analysis is steady and on point. At least he has the guts to say what he thinks. It really doesn’t matter who he is supporting. He took that out of the equation.
Is life imitating art?
Josiah Bartlett hid his MS from the public when running for President.
Is Hillary doing the same?
