When Hillary Clinton called half of Trump supporters a basket of deplorables, I said it would not move the polls more than 1%. My thinking is that we have three types of voters:
1. The Deplorables who already made up their minds for Trump.
2. Clinton supporters who already made up their minds for Clinton.
3. Undecideds who dont care about stuff like this. Thats why they are undecided. And most of them probably have decided. They just dont want to admit it.
All by itself, the deplorable gaffe wouldnt be much of an issue in the long run. Clinton had time to apologize and recover from it.
But then Clinton collapsed with some sort of health problem perhaps pneumonia at the 9-11 anniversary event. The optics of a potential commander-in-chief collapsing at that holy place, and on an important anniversary, rendered her unelectable in my opinion. I base that prediction on how people will associate her health issues with the need to have a reliable commander-in-chief. Persuasion-wise, thats a hole you dont get out of.
But the 9-11 situation had another impact that I didnt realize until today. It weaponized Clintons earlier gaffe about the deplorables..

Now this is serious analysis:
“we really, really dont want a commander-in-chief who is so frail that she might sneeze-fart herself to death in the Situation Room.”
Money quote from Adams:
“When Clinton collapsed at the 9-11 site, that was enough to end her chances of winning. But adding the fake because to her deplorable comment will super-charge whatever was going to happen anyway.”
The low info undecideds are going to Trump. Adams says Hillary’s collapse magnified Hillary’s gaffe and made it look like she was an unsteady, irresponsible person. People feel strongly that a President should have a certain image. Hillary’s ridicule of them combined with her collapse - doesn’t comport with it. That’s why they’re gonna flock to the strong horse. Its human nature.
I’ll give the blog writer one thing; he did quite a bit of mental gymnastics to spin this one for the helldabeast. All BS of course but hey; that’s what they get paid for.
Huh? Scott Adams is pro-Trump!
Some Freepers are reading-impaired.
He clearly says the presidential race is over and Trump will become our next President.
Adams is a Trump supporter. You should read his predictions since the primaries. He has called it correctly.
Our next president will either be an offensive, rich, divisive, bigot with a bad haircut or Donald Trump. #Trump #Clinton— Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) September 12, 2016
Scott Adams takes Hillary apologetics to a whole nother level. He doesn’t know it, but he’s really only addressing California SF Bay Area liberal thinking - anywhere else in the universe you try to think like that, your head spontaneously explodes.
Scott Adams is NOT defending Hillary.
He is pointing out the Deplorables gaffe by itself would be a minor thing but put it together with Hillary’s being a sick person unable to take care of herself - it makes people doubt she can defend them.
Could you imagine having a CinC who can’t keep you safe? Then you can reach only one possible conclusion.
He does it tongue in cheek, he actually has a pretty good record of prediction regarding this election.
“3. Undecideds who dont care about stuff like this. Thats why they are undecided. And most of them probably have decided. They just dont want to admit it.”
I have to disagree with this one. The undecided are the type of people who won’t know who to vote for even when they get into the voting booth. And after having voted they’ll still be second guessing themselves.
These are people who have no mooring, no solid world view that helps them decide and so they are forever searching for one last bit of detail and data that might push them over the fence.
There are people like that but most go to whoever looks good to them.
That appears to be Trump. If they were going to vote for Hillary, they would have made up their minds a long time ago.
Usually I get a lot from Dilberts editorials, but this one was vague, contradictory and inconclusive. Can’t win em all, i suppose.
That was his most clear and most amusing remark.
If you’re a liberal or a Freeper who can’t follow Adams’ reasoning, his remarks will fly over their heads.
He predicted Trump would be the GOP nominee at a time when all the smart people in Washington dismissed it as an impossibility.
Adams is saying we usually have compassion for the sick. Americans are a remarkably tolerant and forgiving people. But when something happens that makes us feel afraid, we stop being tolerant and forgiving.
That’s why Hillary’s prospects of winning the presidency ended on Sunday.
