Once more people catch Zika, however, then that rationale gets mooted.

I don’t understand why the MSM and the administration are so hyped over Zika. It’s not a bad disease for healthy adults, children or any of their usual suspect groups. It’s only a bad disease if one is - in their lingo - an unviable tissue mass. By their usual ‘logic’ abort, flush and done should be all that’s needed. Zika should be a natural and good thing - to them. Instead they’re treating it like I’d treat Hillary. Why? Concern from our side makes perfect since, but that’s not driving the hysteria.

Kill off the bees, you kill off a major food pollenator.

The nwo certainly doesn’t mind this occurring. Helps decrease populations.

That doesn't surprise me in the least !

While there ARE a few intelligent, conscientious individuals in .gov employ at various levels, they are few and very far between.

And once the clusterf**k wheels are set in motion, even the good ones can/will rarely do anything to stop it.

Utter morons. If they had sprayed on a cool night and told the beekeepers it wouldn’t have been a problem. Bees go inside on a cool night and they’re not foraging. A beekeeper can toss wet sheets over the hives to protect them.

As for agricultural impact, none until next spring when there aren’t bees available to pollinate crops.

I hope the morons are sued.

Because it means money in a big slush fund they can all steal from.

Well.... our government probably hired illegal immigrants to do the spraying, and they don’t speak English well, so that may be why there was a lack of coordination.

I wonder how many farmers in the region will have their crops destroyed this year because of this?

None. It's harvest time, not planting time.

Still lots of bumblebees buzzing around pollinating my raspberries even though the first ones of the fall crop are ripening. I wonder what bumblebee raspberry honey tastes like.

The great bee shortage is a lie.

I used to watch the bees work the flowers on our bushes every morning, but they have disappeared. Maybe that's not a great scientific evidence, but there's too much concern from non-governmental sources to state that there isn't something terribly wrong happening to the bees.

My household is stocked up on honey, we have a full jar, which will last us about 40 years or so.

OMG bees are so vital. Talk about overkill.

Bees are not a "sexy or" trendy topic for most people, but I assume reporters have at least a third grade education and know the important role of bees. No questions were asked or answered by the article.

Like... were the apiaries informed of the spraying schedule?
Was the insecticide fatal to all insects on contact or was it persistent?

Could the beekeepers protect most of the hive simply by covering then while spraying is done?
Are there not times of the day when bees are not active?

Etc.

Yep. Sounds to me like they either didn’t talk to beekeepers or didn’t ask any of the right questions.

There was no reason for this pesticide kill other than arrogance and stupidity on the part of those doing the spraying. Beekeepers don’t like mosquitoes any more than anyone else. Probably less because we’re outside more getting bitten by them. A night spraying with a somewhat less toxic chemical on a cool night and this wouldn’t have been a problem.

Yes and no. Higher bee mortality is a fact. But more people, particularly hobbyists, are getting into beekeeping. The big problem is the commercial beekeepers are getting squeezed due to the increased mortality, higher maintenance costs, and less available forage for bees.

So the honeybees will survive. Commercial beekeepers might not. Idiots spraying their hives sure doesn’t help.
