The Tracers - An inside look at the Real-Life Database of America’s Firearms.

There's no telling how many guns we have in America—and when one gets used in a crime, no way for the cops to connect it to its owner. The only place the police can turn for help is a Kafkaesque agency in West Virginia, where, thanks to the gun lobby, computers are illegal and detective work is absurdly antiquated. On purpose. Thing is, the geniuses who work there are quietly inventing ways to do the impossible.

Hmmm. Just cause it's against the law apparently don't make it illegal. Or something. Video at link. IF, and that's a big IF, you have facebook, you might want to share this.

These “writers” have studied NO history.

They’re suckling babies.

There is almost no value in “tracing” guns. It almost never leads to criminal charges, nor should it.

The purpose of a “tracing” system is to be the precursor to gun registration, to allow incremental confiscation.

“Tracing” costs much, much, more than it is worth.

Moronic. All you’ll do is possibly locate who it was stolen from. “Tracing” solves zero crimes. Like criminals discard their guns, and then you can run the numbers and see who did he crime.

Rare to unfreakin’ heard of. Think these guys in Chicago have traceable guns?

Very informative, but sorely lacking reason why we have no national gun registry.
Not surprising filmmaker hacks made this documentary clip to raise sympathy for poor gov’t workers coping with big ‘ol bad gun lobby.

Interesting timing for publicizing gun tracing.
The left will certainly use this for further gun control argument.

And why is this operation located in West Virginia?

Because democrat Ku Klux Klan Kleagle, Senator Robert Byrd, used his position and influence to force the federal government to put many governmental bureaucratic functions in West Virginia, where it makes no sense at all.

And he used his power and influence to obtain government grants, loans and sweetheart deals for many West Virginia companies and non-governmental institutions, many of whih named themselves after him.

Exactly. Pretty much the only time the tracing system solves a crime is when it is used to find the last listed owner of a stolen gun.

Oh, criminals sometimes DO discard their guns - throwing them off of bridges into lakes or rivers, for one thing, or burying them in the middle of nowhere. If they want it to not be found, and they have any brains whatsoever, they will NEVER be connected to a particular firearm.

So, of course and as usual, the only purpose of a tracing system is to regulate/control the otherwise law-abiding. This is ONLY about control, NOT about guns.

I suspect that even looking at rifling on expended bullets is probably getting difficult with the use of CNC machining.
All the rifling is exactly the same.

And prosecuting them for “loosing” a firearm! But that doesn’t apply to government “agents” who have their weapons “stolen” from their vehicles like that a$$hole BLM “agent” who had his gun stolen from his car in San Francisco, only to have it used by an illegal alien to kill Kate Steinle. If it were determined that that gun came from a private citizen’s car, the $hit would hit the fan!

And that is the history they haven't read.
