Oh, criminals sometimes DO discard their guns - throwing them off of bridges into lakes or rivers, for one thing, or burying them in the middle of nowhere. If they want it to not be found, and they have any brains whatsoever, they will NEVER be connected to a particular firearm.

So, of course and as usual, the only purpose of a tracing system is to regulate/control the otherwise law-abiding. This is ONLY about control, NOT about guns.

And prosecuting them for “loosing” a firearm! But that doesn’t apply to government “agents” who have their weapons “stolen” from their vehicles like that a$$hole BLM “agent” who had his gun stolen from his car in San Francisco, only to have it used by an illegal alien to kill Kate Steinle. If it were determined that that gun came from a private citizen’s car, the $hit would hit the fan!
