Trump's Smartest Move
American Thinker ^ | August 19, 2016 | Daniel John Sobieski

Depending on your perspective, the selection of Kellyanne Conway and Stephen Bannon to take over the leadership of a troubled Trump campaign is either the smartest political move ever or merely rearranging the deck chaise on a campaign ship that’s been taking on water.

Conway is a seasoned political operative whose Reaganesque leanings are a clear attempt to reach out to a GOP political base Trump will need despite his protestations. And, as she noted in the Washington Post, one does not reach out with name-calling and ad hominem attacks:

Conway doesn’t like the name-calling. “Maybe,” she said, “it’s just the mother in me.”

She also said she wants Trump to avoid criticizing people's looks and mental capacity.

Such actions as mocking one’s “lying” and “little” opponents and their appearance and entertaining the most bizarre of conspiracy theories is what spawned the #nevertrump movement. It was formed by those who thought, yes, Ted Cruz is a natural-born citizen whose father was not involved in the JFK assassination. It was formed by those who didn’t believe that Bush 41 lied us into an Iraq war that cost American lives unnecessarily. It was formed by those who didn’t believe Bush 43 knew about 9/11 and did nothing/ It was formed by those who thought Carly Fiorina’s face would look fine in the Oval office.

What’s “troubled” about Trump’s campaign?

He is drawing RECORD crowds, compared to hilLIARy’s barely being able to scrape together 300 people (unless she pays them)

Bunk.

It was formed to protect the Uniparty.

I'm sure she's not the first person to tell Trump that. It'll be interesting if she can influence him to change, especially since Bannon, by all accounts, is a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners, attack dog kind of person.

While I agree that Trump’s moves this week have been very smart (and the polls are beginning to reflect that), the #NT “movement” was formed for one reason, and one reason ONLY - to protect the GOPe and their power/perks/privileges.

If a business is struggling, the person in charge needs to make changes. In a presidential campaign, where there is only so much time until election day, those changes need to happen quickly.

Too bad government doesn’t work this way. Political operatives are rewarded and poor performance in the bureaucracy is ignored. There is no accountability. We all see the difference when we compare the DMV customer experience with, say, the Apple Store.

If KellyAnn Conway can help Trump win, then great. We’ll see what happens over the next few days.

Why do people think Trump’s campaign is in trouble? The liberal media saturates the poll BS. The talking heads bring on people for the boob tube that are paid by the DNC to paint a horrible picture. Trump is attacked everyday, more than a couple times, by the media fishing for something they can stick it to him whether it is complete or even right. And he is being attacked by even his worthless own party.

In the meantime he collected the largest accumulation of primary votes in history by 1.4 million votes from us, the ones that really make the decision, if they let us. (And they are past the point of stopping it now)

Ignore this crap. It is sensationalism to try to harm Trump’s campaign, again. And where are the conservative outlets telling they are full of it? Another piece of the puzzle.

This is a good combination of advisers providing balance. There are times you need to kick a$$ and take names. Plus others where you need to be diplomatic.

I’m a Trumper and I’m feeling very optimistic. LA times poll has has HRC 1 point ahead. Trump has huge crowds and only problems he really has in media looking for anyway to screw him everyday.

Hillary on other hand, is probably spending money for people to attend her meetings...can only campaign 3-4 days a week....definitely has health problems...very major bribery/nationaly security problems that will explode before they go away...

All the lies/attacks and smears would have doomed a cruz, bush, rubio etc. Trump is just getting warmed up.

Bringing on Conway and Bannon really beefed up his campaign...

And then there is the debates....something every dem is dreading.

Remember what Trump said....if your boxing before the opponents home crowd....you go for the KNOCK OUT...its the only way you can guarantee a win.

Just as long as they aren't giving Trump conflicting advice.

“...what spawned the #nevertrump movement. It was formed by those who thought, yes, Ted Cruz is a natural-born citizen...”

Born to a foreign father, in a foreign land, yet somehow the NeverTrumpers conclude that meets the Framers’ bar for natural born citizen.

You’ve got to unplug your logic circuits to accept that.

Conway doesn’t like the name-calling. "Maybe," she said, "it’s just the mother in me."

Ah, would that be the mother (of four children) in you that just signed on to be a Trump aid 24/7 for three months?

From February 3, 2015:

Kellyanne: Family. Faith. Constant Motion. But if I were to describe myself, I guess I would say, curious, confident … and I love the cheerful chaos that goes along with having four kids (ages 5, 6, and two 10 year-olds) two dogs, and an adorable husband who is really like a fifth child!

I think she'll be a help to the campaign, but it drives me nuts the women who toss out the "MOM" card, when it's quite clear they aren't there for their kids.

Just look a the respect for her husband oozing out there.

Some women want respect, and then foist this nonsense off on us.

Quite so. In 1980, Reagan fired campaign manager John Sears and his team on the verge of the New Hampshire primary. Why? Reagan heard some disturbing reports, so he solicited the help of conservative GOPe type attorney from NYC Bill Casey to examine his campaign.

After a week of poking around, Casey reported back to Reagan that instead of organizing, his campaign was consumed with internal bickering and was deeply in debt. Reagan then talked Casey into becoming his campaign manager, and, with a victory in New Hampshire, Reagan was on his way to the nomination and the Presidency, with Casey as CIA Director.

In addition, Manafort's position had become untenable. It seems that his work in Ukrainian politics and later efforts at lobbying for Ukrainian interests raised what are now active legal issues. Whether these issues are minor nuisances or risk sending him to the pokey depends in large part on the DOJ -- which at present is in the hands of the highly partisan and unethical Obama crowd. Resignation was Manafort's best option, both for him and Trump.

From the article:

We are hoping Kellyanne Conway will finally teach Trump how to work and play well with others and that the teleprompter is his friend.

We are hoping Hillary Clinton will lose.

Words of a 'Never Trump'-er, or constructive criticism? Considering the 2nd sentence, I'd go with the latter.
