This policy is ridiculous, but standardized tests have their role. Without them, every parent is told their children are geniuses by teachers with a vested interest in promulgating the lie; standardized tests let parents sift through the BS and see how their children really stack up.

Yes, standardized test would have a place if they were created to a useful standard. I am an educator and I detest what our schools have become. Part of the problem is that conservatives and Constitutionalist, like myself, have given up on the system and left it to the liberal progressives and communist. There are a few “right-wing” educators left in our schools but we are so few it is hard to make changes. Parents must help effect change in the system by refusing to send their children to these broken institutions. Also, we need more “right-wingers”,like myself, to enter education and help force the change.
Follow the [federal] money. The Florida school system is incompetent and seriously corrupt administratively and academically. I speak from first hand experience. Virtually no part of it is any way to judge a child's true level of learning.

It’s been true for more than a decade in Flori-DUH...I recall the fuss LONG ago when the ‘teachers’ that were produced by our ‘education schools’ couldn’t pass the exam....Answer ? Lower the required scores to get a qualifying grade !
So we get unqualified folks teaching our kids to this day !
Your point is good in theory, and would work in a home school environment, but even kids that flunk the tests are still promoted. The test would only be valuable if it was used for a purpose that benefitted the child, instead of the wallets of the test companies.

Do you really “think” the curricula (designed by the likes of him and Billy Ayers-types) will educate when Socrates knew 2400 years ago that the State will never educate, it will just make slaves for the State.

Parents, who are really concerned about their children’s success in school should already know how they are doing. The common core has done nothing but desecrate our education system. Its co-founder even admits that the common core was to level the playing field for the illiterate. Do the search! Also it serves as a money grab for test publishers not to mention Federal control over local school districts.
The tests are a response to the kids who graduated high school functionally illiterate, kids with A averages at graduation with 8th grade skill sets.
