In 1960 Ottawa County voted for Richard Nixon while the rest of the country wanted John F Kennedy. That marked the last presidential election in which the residents of this Ohio county on the coastline with Lake Erie differed from the national result.
For 13 elections in a row the country has gone the way of this so-called bellwether county.
With 93% of its population being white the demographics aren't very representative of the US, but its per capita income of $28,703 (£21,896) is the US average almost to the dollar.
Residents here are concerned about the economy and vote with their wallet, political leaders told the BBC.

It’s easily arguable they weren’t wrong about Nixon either.
Trump has been way ahead in Ohio for quite some time. Only through trickery and skulduggery did he lose narrowly to sitting R Governor spoil-sport Kasich.
Now Ohioans are POd at Kasich for being a spoilsport so will hand Ohio to Trump in a landslide.
There’s an interesting dynamic going on. There’s a real love-fest going on with Cleveland police and the Trump campaign. If it can turn a healthy percentage of Law and Order votes to Trump in November, it’ll assure OH for him.
What are the figures?

Look at the 7 battleground counties at Axiom. They are all majority white voters, some overwhelmingly so. Yet they all went for Obama both years. What really gets me is, I live right next to Hillsborough County, FL and in the past 7.5 years I have yet to meet a whit voter that admits to voting for Obama.
They were warned about Obama, put him in office anyway, and now they are such cowards, they can’t even stand up for their own vote.
Nixon actually won the legitimate vote,
and should have been awarded the electoral college victory.
But Voter Fraud from the Kennedy Crime Family was used to perpetrate the heist.
Interestingly, JFK would be hounded out of the modern Demon-rat part AND Nixon never even DREAMED of the criminal acts this interloping Imposter has heaped upon the Republic.
Meaningless twaddle. Of those 13 elections, only two (’68 and ‘00) were squeakers.

Also, if Turmp is ahead in the polls now, what is the chance of a reversal by November?

Ottawa like Vigo in IN, mirrors the statewide vote exactly.
Trump has a good shot of carrying OH.
And no Republican has been elected President without winning the Buckeye State.
