Clarification: The belief that gender is a personal choice is a mental disorder.
So, gender-wise, we have a neuter term (gay), a masculine term (gay man), and a feminine term (lesbian).
I'm trying to figure out what derogatory label to use for this intolerable crime of grammar. Sexist? Genderist? Germanicist? Heteromorphologist?

The natural order of creation is perfect. Mankind has fiddled around with nature and screwed up causing cancers, malformations and all kinds of out of the ordinary. But one thing has not changed is that at the time of conception you are male or female - one or the other!

I noticed that the surviving gender-marked nouns have to do with social ranks - Duke/Duchess, etc. - that don’t even exist in the United States. There’s probably some sociolinguistic significance to that. It would be interesting to know if this phenomenon is found in other languages as they evolve.
