Obama Smart Gun Push Could Conflict With Constitutional Rights, Legal Expert Says

President Barack Obama plans to make smart gun technology a primary part of his push to control firearms, but an expert warns that the new high-tech weaponry poses a danger to constitutional rights—and he’s not talking about the Second Amendment.

In April, Obama posed the question, “If we can set it up so you can’t unlock your phone unless you’ve got the right fingerprint, why can’t we do the same thing for our guns?”

Obama released a presidential memorandum requiring three departments to push smart gun research—the departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Defense. The memo also entices the industry to manufacture those devices by offering to provide funding for research. But applying the standards of phones to guns could create significant problems said Joseph Greenlee, a Second Amendment lawyer from Frisco, Colorado, and a member of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies.

Idiot Obama designs the smart gun himself.

It has no trigger and no hammer.

We’re supposed to trust the a-holes who still won’t refer to Orlando as a muslim terror attack with our rights?

What doesn’t he do that conflicts with the Constitution. If there weren’t so many Christians and conservatives in this country who would’ve pushed bac, he’d already have torched the Contsitution and replaced it with sharia law. The elephant in the room is that he’s Muslim while claiming to be Christian. Anyone with one shred of discernment that applies the walks, talks, and quacks test can see clearly what he is. The rest are either evil or naive or both.

As soon as we set up a system for vetting potential politicians I might then consider proposals. The current crop lacking any integrity whatsoever, my answer is not just no, but he’ll no!

Yes, and I plan to see all of the RINOs and “conservatives” who are so concerned that Trump will violate the Constitution create just as much of a fight and demand Obama’s impeachment, right??

Isn’t that what they’ll do??

Why. Because fingerprint scanners don’t work half the time and I’m not going to trust it if so e ISIS member walks into an event with an AK-47 without a fingerprint scanner and starts spraying. Also because how untrustworthy and sneaky the Marxist fascists tyrants who would place a receiver deactivation switch and GPS unit within the gun and not tell anyone until it was gun confiscation time. Basically trust nothin the mulatto manchurian monkey has to say. Period. Sorry, didn’t mean to offend the monkeys.

If people want a “smart” gun, let then buy one. But don’t force them on everyone.

Government should not issue guns that are controla le to its liking like it would to its own troops. We are not government troops forced to respect and obey Obama’s direct orders, period

Yes, the "product test video" was particularly entertaining.

Yeah, as if.

Of all the statutes and ordinances that have been floated over the years regarding "smart guns", I can't think of a single example that didn't specifically exclude law enforcement.

Having called 911 recently, I’m not happy with making guns more like phones. After calling them, I was unable to make other calls - only 911 would work until (1) they released my phone, or (2) I re-booted my phone.

I do not want that feature on a firearm!
