TEL AVIV – In the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando, the United States should consider adopting the Israeli model of profiling as a security precaution, Donald Trump posited on Sunday. “Well I think profiling is something that we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country,” Trump said in a phone interview with CBS’ Face the Nation. “Other countries do it, you look at Israel and you look at others, they do it and they do it successfully. And I hate the concept of profiling but we have to start using common sense and we have to use our heads.”

In a sense we already do. We're just not permitted to say it because of PC. Profiling or pre-judging someone based on past experiences with similar behavioral patterns keeps a lot of people from being shot, robbed, or being raped though. It's just common sense. You don't go walking barefoot in leaves in the woods for the same reason you shouldn't venture into a neighborhood on the south side wearing lots of jewelry. Israel has the huge advantage of more or less knowing who the enemy is.
In America it is far more complex BUT doable.
Trump should be saying we will profile “suspect elements” most of whom, maybe are Muslim. Look at what other Democracies do, (France for example) they do worse stuff.

Not in the land of PC it won't. Police offers profile every single day. They have to or they'd be dead in less than a month in some cities. Try again. This is common sense. Its human evolution in action. We all profile every day. Its called judgement. In my judgement am I likely to have problems with this person, let’s give them a wider berth? Often its a gestalt rather than any discrete attribute but survivors learn to rely on it.
Anytime someone wants you to suspend your common sense they call it racism, profiling or some liberal buzzword. Universities and Federal contractors are not allowed to ask about criminal history when hiring...oops fraudulent construction practices, confidence tricksters, sexual deviants feel free to apply. To the people we exposed to danger where they had a right to expect a safe environment sorry but we couldn’t allow profiling based on criminal records.
If someone looks anxious and fits the age, sex, and other patterns of terrorists(including religious extremism, national origin as part of the mix) it is criminally negligent not to pay stricter attention to them than to the 80 year old in the wheelchair or my 4 year old nephew.
There are behavioral clues and phrases that alert the trained security agent a la Israel but in no way do we allow any actual saftey concerns or reliable protocols to be acted on in Amerika, where civilians are routinely sacrificed on the alter of political expediency.
I don’t know where the idea came from that profiling is a bad idea. Profiling is smart.
