The 9/11 terrorists could have cared less about Americas gun-free zones, former Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren suggested during his conversation with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday morning. The two weighed in on Sundays Orlando tragedy, as well as lawmakers predictable call for gun control.
In his remarks, Oren did accede some points to the gun control lobby, arguing that in Israel few citizens own guns and yet theyve managed to fight terror for years. Yet, he quickly noted that if a terrorist has plans to murder someone, gun laws are not going to stop him or her. September 11, 2001 is an extreme example.
I think that if a terrorist wants to get a gun, a terrorist is going to get a gun, Oren said. And the people that took down the Twin Towers in 9/11 didnt have guns at all. And a plane can be a weapon, too.
The more we learn about the Orlando massacre, the more we realize that gun control legislation did nothing to stop Omar Mateen in his cold-blooded tracks. He passed a background check mandated by the federal government and he bought his guns legally. Yet, he still walked into a gay nightclub in Orlando and murdered almost 50 innocent people.
Many Americans have used their firearms in self-defense.
Yet, that hasnt stopped media outlets from publishing anti-gun propaganda and congressmen from filibustering all night to scale back Americans Second Amendment rights.
There are a myriad of items that can be weaponized to chose from. That in fact can cause even more destruction and death then the gun, and they are even more readily available.
What?
Most of the cab drivers in Israel had pistols. There were plenty of concealed weapons in Israel. Who do you think have shot the terrorists with knives.
Neither did the Boston marathon bombers.
I have no idea if they do or not, but it seems to me the ambassador would know
Children in Israel cut their teeth on Guns
Neither did Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer and most other serial killers.
Sounds nuts but seems true. I bet there are a lot of licenses issued to those in Judea and Sumeria. A lot!
“There is an essential difference between the two. In America the right to bear arms is written in the law, here its the opposite... only those who have a license can bear arms and not everyone can get a license.”
Agreed. While there may be strict provisions on firearms ownership in Israel, with licencing and registration, it is a civic duty/responsibility there (at least that is my impression, correct me if I am wrong in that assessment). Youngsters there and also in Switzerland go to rifle training on a regular basis, serve in the military, have teachers in their pubic schools who carry firearms, etc.
Generally, these and other things about Israeli civic duty and responsibility would probably be at odds with many liberal minds in North American megapolitan areas.

It was a group of Saudi dandies, in the main, who hijacked four jets. Dabblers in western “sins”, they were well prepared to seek repentance through martyrdom.
There are lots of armed soldiers and police all over the place, though.
Reminder From Former Israeli Ambassador: The 9/11 Terrorists Didnt Have GunsFortunate for them, neither did the flight crew or any law abiding passengers.
Yes. And in the US in our wildest dreams we wouldn’t allow active duty or reserve military to be armed.
Since Israel has a citizen military rather than a strictly professional one, their armed soldiers are sort of the equivalent of open carry citizens here (not the same but similar). I don’t think the Israelis worry about their armed forces turning on them the way we do.
The answer is SO THAT WE CAN HAVE MULTIPLE MORE GOVERNMENT SCHOOL "SHOOTINGS" (OR FALSE FLAGS, DEPENDING ON YOUR PERSPECTIVE) SO OBOZO (or, GOD FORBID, HILLARY) CAN APPEAL TO THE MILLIONS OF DUMB ASSES OUT HERE (aka HER SUPPORTERS!) FOR REMOVAL OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT!
And where did all those DUMB ASSES COME FROM? FROM THE SAME GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS!
This is a crisis we'd better get a handle on before it's too late -- if it isn't already!
