WHAT MAKES A POLITICIAN

By DH, 2016

Has anyone really stopped and analyzed why it seems like the higher in office an elected official gets the more power-hungry and corrupt they become?

There are several reasons for this personality disorder and it all starts with their first victory in any level of the election process.

1. They want to make changes to the current administration, laws, rules, or the dictates thereof.

2. They are egotistical zealots and simply crave public adoration.

3. They know that public office means a path to wealth, riches and special favors from those they give support and favors to.

4. They know if they “play their cards right” that in the long run I will result in personal riches and wealth…even though the actual pay scale is not even near what is to come “under the table.”

Category 1.

There are some (very few though) who fit only category 1. They truly wish to change something for the better. Some are successful while most are not. Most honest ones find that the game is rigged as “pay to play” and if they don’t play the game…they don’t get elected again. In many cases the “pay to play” game is so intoxicating that they move to category 3 and 4 after the first election. In rare cases they actually make an honest career as a public citizen.

Category 2.

There are some who fit uniquely in category 2. Many were High School and College athletes, thespians, political science students, and a whole host of others who were in some type of entertainment or publicly attended organization that was popular while in the educational system. They are the types who actually love themselves and think that they are far above the Proles (Orwell, 1984) and actually believe that all will want them to remain in the public domain so that they can be adored and idolized forever for allowing their followers to revel in their self-perceived greatness.

Most of these types will morph into categories 3 and 4 if their careers advance. It just can’t be helped due to the uncontrollable driving forces of narcissism.

Category 3.

This is the common category of most politicians on all levels…especially the higher ones. The traits described are all too prevalent from the lowest levels of government to the highest. Once in office, they are almost impossible to get rid of…even if convicted of violating the law or being charged with corruption. Their power base is built upon years and levels of corruption and is completely “moth eaten” by the Pay to Play game. Once in this category they become “big league” liars, cheats, “go along to get along” masters, and are controlled by who pays the most in money or votes.

“You scratch my back…I scratch your back” is their credo and it will last until they either die, get voted out of office, or go to prison. A prison sentence or conviction of corruption won’t even necessarily end their careers.

I guess this paper becomes very apparent in today's news and the history of politics.

We are faced with the greatest crisis since the first shot was fired in the American revolution. We have to take our country and heritage back today or for tomorrow it will be gone forever and erased from the pages of the future politically correct history books.

“To be a politician is but to:

· feign ignorance of what you know well,
· pretend knowledge of what you are totally ignorant,
· decline to listen to what you hear,
· attempt what is beyond your capacity,
· hide what ought to be exposed,
· appear profound when you are dull-witted, and
· justify ignoble means by claiming admirable ends.”

It helps a great deal to have neither spine nor ethics, and an infinite capacity to lie your *ss off with a straight face.
