BILL TO BAN SMOKING AT STATE BEACHES AND PARKS PASSES STATE SENATE

Smoking or vaping at state beaches and parks, or disposing of tobacco products at these locations, may soon be illegal under Senate Bill 1333, a measure authored by Senator Marty Block, a San Diego Democrat. The measure passed the State Senate by a 25 to 11 bipartisan vote this week and next heads to the Assembly.

Senator Block says, “We have an obligation to value and preserve our environmental treasures. SB 1333 will help to keep our state parks and beaches clean and safe by removing exposure to second hand smoke and in reducing the threat of park fires.”

He added that cigarette litter poses a detrimental effect on the environment and wildlife. “Cigarettes are non-biodegradable and contain more than 164 toxic chemicals which create a substantial trash and health issue at beaches and parks,” the Senator noted, adding, “They can be ingested by wildlife and fish which leads to the contamination of our oceans and waterways.”

SB 1333 would make it an infraction to dispose used cigarettes or tobacco waste in parks or waterways and impose a maximum fine of $250 for a violation of the law. The bill also requires the Department of Parks and Recreation to post signs notifying park and beach goers of the smoking ban.

I thought smoking had been banned at beaches and parks for years in California?

Just hop into a women’s bathroom at beach side to smoke that cigarette. Smoking in the girl’s room!!! Time for Brownsville Station to modernize their song.

What's the difference between this and prohibition?

This smoking gig was another womens' issue that has gottn out of hand. They want the freedom to kill babies...but you can't smoke or drink.....except for a price.

These are the same people, by the way, who are pushing pot at every turn.

Un. Effing. Real.

Why anyone would live in the Communist Police State of Californistan completely escapes me.

Sounds like here in New York sh*ty. When the anti-constitutionalist Mike Bloomberg was Mayor, he would ban something new almost every week. Right before he left office he went full Nazi and demanded landlords submit a list to the city of all tenants who smoke.

Absolutely insane. I am an outlaw and love it. Frankly there is more dog shit on the beach than cigarette butts by 100:1 margin. Start fining all the dog owners who let their animals defecate on the beach.

They hate tobacco but won’t tell you the real reason. They will say it’s for health and safety.

How about banning people from the beach to cut down on skin cancer?

And the thing is vaping vaporizes propylene glycol which is a food product. So what they are doing is banning something someone could be eating at the same time. The minute amount of nicotine in it isn’t even measurable not to mention even noticeable as it is vaporized. This is just more crap from liberals trying to emulate their fascist heroes.

You have to first “identify” as a woman.

“Cigarettes are non-biodegradable and contain more than 164 toxic chemicals...

A few years back I was standing outside my office building enjoying a cigarette.

I watched as two "Ladies" were approaching. Something in my gut told me that they were going to say something about my smoking. And sure enough, I was right.

As they got within a few feet one "smoking Nazi" looked at me and said, "Do you know how many chemicals are in those things?"

I looked at her, I looked down at my cigarette and slowly raised my eyes back to her and calmly replied, "I'm surprised they're not more expensive".

Cigarettes are non-biodegradable

Everything is "biodegradable". Some things just take a bit longer.

Every time I need to satisfy that nicotine urge, I feel like a woman. But seriously, I was just playing into the current scenario. I really have no desire to enter a woman’s bathroom. Probably full of “women” that share the same plumbing anyway.

That’s ok. Soon California will be just another state of Mexico and the Mexicans don’t put up with that libtard crap.

Tobacco kills parasites and bugs. I suspect it interferes with all the free medicine being sprayed on us via the happy trails. Tobacco activates the immune system in a way nothing else does.

Also, tobacco mellows you out, and undoubtably infringes on Pharma profit. There are possibly other reasons, but these four are foremost in my mind.
