Texas GOP may distance support for gay 'reparative therapy'

The Texas Republican Party considered a platform Friday that would soften support of widely rebuked “reparative therapy” for gays while still preserving some of the toughest anti-gay language on any party plank in the U.S.

The new platform also would oppose bathroom rights for transgender persons — an unsurprising move after the state’s Republican lieutenant governor said Friday that Texas is ready to forfeit billions of federal dollars rather than comply with a new Obama administrative directive on transgender rights in public schools. …

My view is - don’t have a view.

If people want to have “gay reparative therapy” or “homosexual repair crystal essence mojo therapy” its NO political party’s position to support them, and certainly no political party’s position to ban them.

The GOP often falls into these traps.

But hormonal treatments to “repair” a 3 year old boy who thinks he’s a girl is just fine, per liberals.

Sgree. The GOP shouldn’t be anyone’s psychologist any more than the Democrats should be.

Should the GOP be promoting AA? Weight Watchers?

Weight watchers and AA are there for people who think they have a problem. I suppose, if a gay person thinks they have a problem, some sort of therapy should be there for them as well. But, such things are only a problem if the person involved thinks they are a problem. Again, it’s ultimately no ones business...there are a lot of very happy fat people, a lot of very happy alcoholics, and a lot of very happy gay people. None needs help being converted...unless they themselves think they need help being converted. I myself love NFL football. Some one say that I have a problem. I certainly wouldn’t say that about myself, therefore, I have no problem. Get it?

”.. the state’s Republican lieutenant governor said Friday that Texas is ready to forfeit billions of federal [emphasis added] dollars rather than comply with a new Obama administrative directive on transgender rights in public schools. … "

With all due respect to the Texas lieutenant governor, he evidently does not understand the following about the “federal” dollars that Texas would be forfeiting concerning PC transgender restrooms.

Probably most of the forfeited “federal” dollars are arguably Texas state revenues that the corrupt feds stole from Texas, and the other states, by means of unconstitutional federal taxes.

In fact, note that a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that Congress is prohibited from appropriating taxes in the name of state power issues, essentially any issue which Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Remember in November !

When patriots elect Trump, they also need to elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work within its Section 8-limited powers to support the new president, including putting a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes and likewise unconstitutional federal interference in state affairs, deciding policy for PC transgender restrooms in this example.

Also consider that such a Congress would probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.

Don’t make it illegal for those who want help from homosexuality to seek it.

You don’t have to support it, you just need to support liberty for those who wish to seek this kind of therapy.

The authors of the Constitution would kill themselves if they came back and saw what the United States has become. The government getting involved in way too much personal lives issues. If someone is gay and wants help, go find it and stop sinning. That is a family matter and has no business in government whatsoever. Private companies can offer this type of care and be done with it. The Republican Party has become nannies of everyone. Let people deal with the issue without the government that screws everything up anyway. We are dying as a country and I thought that Trump would save it, but judges are so screwed up that anything Trump tries some dopey judge will stop him. Obama has ensured that the federal judges are as liberal as can be.

The sad thing is that those who vehemently oppose such therapy are trying to hide the fact that so many of the “gender confused” were horribly abused as children and suffer severe mental and emotional issues. I know a couple who are in their 60s and going to therapy on a weekly basis - their stories make my heart want to sob for them.
