Trump vs Ryan/McConnell's legislative agenda?

Posted on 05/10/2016 2:28:38 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Heard a talking head on Fox talking about Trump and Ryan trying to come to terms over the Ryan/McConnell legislative agenda.

Does anyone have a list of the legislative goals of the Ryan/McConnell legislative agenda?

I am not sure...but McConnell is GOPe to the core, and Ryan’s budget deal as the new Speaker says all I needed to know.

Best news of the day in this regard was this:

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy signs up to be a Trump delegate

Pretty soon the straws are going to pile up enough to break their GOPe backs.

It’ll be enough for Ryan and McConnell to roll over for Trump the way they did for Obama.

For years, their agenda has been “defer to the President’s agenda” on all matters while pretending to fight the President’s agenda. So, I’m not sure if much would need to be adjusted under a Trump administration.

Jim, The Ryan/McConnell agenda is the same as Obama’s.
They do whatever Obama wants.

Which is why Trump has done so well.

NY Times says there is “little harmony in their legislative agenda”:

McConnell’s agenda is to control as much of the GOPe and Senate Republicans as possible and keep them on the reservation and block them from doing anything crazy.

Ryan’s goal is to mediate between the House conservatives and McConnell and try to do better than Newt, who was constantly blocked by Trent Lott-etal from passing the House agenda in the GOP controlled Senate.

They do not consider what is good for the country, or for Republican voters, or for the presidential candidate.

They are focused on themselves.

Off point, perhaps, but what excitement in thinking The Donald will be in the White House working on such projects! Whoever thought that man who took my college friends to Maxwell’s Plum had risen so very high?! You could knock me over with a feather.

Why Paul Ryan May Have to Give Up on His Legislative Agenda ...
http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/2016/01/11/Why-Paul-Ryan-May-Have-Give-His-Legislative-Agenda

But in the early days of the new session of Congress, a split has begun to emerge between Ryan’s idealistic rhetoric and McConnell’s hard-nosed reality.

[ ]
Here’s where Ryan and McConnell may be headed for conflict:
1. Authorization for the use of military force.

[ ]
Ryan’s legislative move rekindled optimism that Congress might actually do something to authorize the conflict that began in 2014.
But this weekend McConnell said the issue was a non-starter in his chamber.

[ ]
2. Legislative goals.
He has also talked about taking action on welfare reform
[ ]

But when McConnell was asked in the interview on This Week what the “most important piece of legislation you could put on the president’s desk this year,” he lowered the bar substantially.
