Ted Cruz Coalition Want Bathroom Laws In Republican Party Platform…
Conservative Treehouse ^ | May 9, 2016 | Sundance

This story is an example why the republican party consistently loses against the progressive left. In response to the ridiculous, albeit recent, NC bathroom laws (which the MSM are having fun bashing conservatives on the head with) the Ted Cruz constituency wants to write bathroom laws into the 2016 republican party platform.

Yes, yes, unfortunately that’s the modern right-wing cultural GOPe. Look over there, shiny thing, shiny thing… quick, go chase it….. quick make a law to control it…. bathrooms, gays, transgenders… oh noes, the humanity !

WASHINGTON DC – After he lost the Republican nomination, Sen. Ted Cruz’s backers will now reportedly pivot towards trying to gain control of the GOP’s platform during the national convention.

According to The New York Times, top Cruz aide Ken Cuccinelli wrote in an email to supporters urging them to come to Cleveland in July to “protect against liberal changes to our platform.” Cuccinelli confirmed the effort to the Times, telling them that Cruz’s backers seek to protect “movement conservatism,” including a firming of the party’s core positions on abortion and the addition of language regarding transgender bathroom use.

“We want to have girls go in girls’ bathrooms,” he said, alluding to how presumptive nominee Donald Trump has taken a more liberal position than Cruz on which bathrooms transgender individuals can use. (read more)

Bathroom monitors? Really? That’s what the Ted Cruz wing of the republican party is worried about… being the bathroom police?

Personally, I’ve come to the conclusion the GOPe actually meets behind mahogany doors and picks out things -intentionally- to make issues out of and give the republican party the public appearance of insane nuttery. I’ve come to believe they do this on purpose as party of the entire construct of the UniParty…. there can be no other reasonable explanation.

The problem with having a one-size-fits-all meddling in a state issue, is if it GOES THE WRONG WAY (as Roe v. Wade and then Gay Marriage did) the mess gets spread all over the country, not just happening in one state.

I would have thought Gay Marriage would have proven how getting Uncle Sam into certain things can backfire. I guess not.

That is a theocracy.

We're talking about the last, yowling online diehards trundling and trolling in support of a man who genuinely believes he's a modern-day incarnation of Moses.

For them, "theocracy" isn't a bug; it's a feature.

To think that keeping penises out of the ladies’ room is a “losing issue” is utterly ludicrous.

The GOP is a private organization. It is not part of the federal government.

In the same way its platform supports life, it can say it supports privacy and security if public restrooms, locker rooms, and showers.

That doesn’t tell any state how to handle it. It simply supports a principle of privacy and security.

Trump does not need to change his mind.

He said they should have left it like it was. I agree with that.

The platform should be short and sweet, including bathrooms suggests that a lot of other things would need to be individually listed.

EVERY issue is a moral issue, from taxes to national security to marriage, etc.

By your logic, if the left wanted to make it legal for everyone can walk around naked, you would just sit back and allow it.

We don’t need wusses like you who refuse to fight for basic human decency in the party.

It’s the modern equivalent of a Prohibition rage.

Pushbacks at the private level might have ultimately solved a loose morality problem (e.g. the Target boycott). But no we Gotta Have A New Law.

Now you're talking, Presidential Potty Patrol. With high matters like this being a priority, I think Cruz should be elected King of the World!

We need to put it in the platform to keep it like it was. It’s the left who changed the law to allow penises in the ladies room. The NC legislature made a law to put it back the way it was.

And this is exactly how liberals have weaseled their agenda in. By legislating about things THEY considered to be outrages. Till now you can’t hardly sneeze in public without breaking a Federal law.

The original Republican Party was against slavery because it want against the principles of the Declaration of Independence that all men were created equal.

That is defending a political right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not morality.

And Lincoln was elected saying he would limit slavery's growth, not it's existence because he knew he had not constitutional ability to end slavery.

It can be as specific about the privacy and security of citizens in facilities as it is about its support of life or guns. I’m ok with that.

I’ll support a “bathroom law” as long as it applies only to public buildings and tax-subsidized businesses. Otherwise, businesses can do whatever the hell they please. It’s not like I have to give them my money.

What is ludicrous is not to realize that making this a central issue of the Republican platform has more downside than upside. It would be satisfying like telling someone off. However the wise person learns when to hold ‘em & when to fold ‘em and return when they have a stronger hand...such as after the President, Congress and most Governors are Republican.

The States can regulate it all they want.

In the private area, consumers can punish those like TARKET who side with the Left on these issues.

Yep, and that’s why we have to counter-legislate to stop their attempt to impose their morality on the country and wipe out our freedom.

I absolutely agree with you. It is Charlotte NC’s fault that this is even an issue. The NC legislature did nothing wrong.

They restored respect for the privacy and security of its citizens.
