Los Angeles police investigators obtained a method to open the locked iPhone belonging to the slain wife of "The Shield" actor Michael Jace, according to court papers reviewed by The Times.
LAPD detectives found an alternative way to bypass the security features on the white iPhone 5S belonging to April Jace, whom the actor is accused of killing at their South L.A. home in 2014, according to a search warrant filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The bypass occurred earlier this year, during the same period that the FBI was demanding that Apple unlock the iPhone 5C of San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook. The FBI eventually said it found another method, without using Apple, for unlocking the phone, which was equipped with a newer and more advanced operating system than April Jace's phone.
. . .
Shortly after her killing, April Jace's cellphone was locked by a passcode, which "hindered" the investigation, Zych wrote. An Apple technician was ordered by an L.A. judge in June 2014 to help police extract data from the phone's hard drive, according to the search warrant. The technician successfully extracted the data and met with detectives in February 2015, when the LAPD received the hard drive, the warrant stated.

Later, when they wanted to get back in zgzin, the iPhone battery had died, the same system had to be done again, but Apple would no longer cooperate as they had in 2014.

"However, the iPhone 5S used by the victim has been in police possession since before iOS 8 with stronger encryption enabled by default was released. This means the device in question was running iOS 7, which did not ship with strong, system-wide encryption enabled and left many portions of the system open to recovery. As a result, it's likely that the phone was not protected by anything more substantial than the passcode lock."
It means that it was also very likely the passcode limitations were also not enabled.
Clearly Apple is going to use its random wheel of moral outrage to make life and death decisions for others.
Oh yeah.
Exactly! And they have the power to force people to buy and use their products! We're all slaves to Apple!
Is Jace in custody or is he out on bond?
That’s hardly the case. Apple thinks it should pick and choose what cause is worth of it’s efforts. Apple is living in a bubble, cheating at taxes, living off child labor, feeding the corrupt communist system. You can bet your but they have a massive chicom payoff system for their factories. Chances are they finally bit the hand that feeds them and their chicom cell phone market dried up over night.
They didn’t “Hack” anything but, their bloated egos.
Half Baked, Hack, Poseurs...
WHAT A GREAT @#$@#$ING SHOW!!!!
not the same second time around. Sopranos was better 2nd time.
I guess Shield was a different kind of show.
“I’ve done worse”
That's an amazing amount of fecal matter. I think you need to adjust the tinfoil on your monitor, you missed a few tropes.
Which thing didn’t they do?

Cupertino’s mayor says Apple is ‘not willing to pay a dime’ in taxes
http://www.theverge.com/2016/5/5/11604704/apple-tax-evasion-cupertino-mayor-barry-chang-reform
From the accusatory article you linked:
In response to the report, Apple said: "Underage labour is never tolerated in our supply chain and we are proud to have led the industry in pioneering new safeguards."
As for your second link, LIBERAL politicians are always demanding more taxes. Apple is using the tax laws as they currently exist. Tax avoidance is not Tax Evasion. They are complaining that Apple is using the European Rules THEY put in place. . . and they don't like it.
Cupertinos mayor says Apple is not willing to pay a dime in taxes
And Cupertino's Mayor is a f'ing LIAR, as I demonstrated yesterday in the original thread, enumerating the taxes that Apple already PAYS to the city of Cupertino and is PAYING to the City of Cupertino on its new headquarters. . . which will total over 650 MILLION DOLLARS OVER A TEN YEAR PERIOD! CAN YOU SPELL LIAR? Since you are one, you should be able to.
When Steve Jobs presented the project to the City Council in 2011, then City Councilman Chang was singing Apple's praises because of the benefits Apple brings to Cupertino. . . and THANKED Jobs for not taking the project to another location! Hypocrite!
Just the construction actives alone in the first year brought in money to the Cupertino coffers from Apple:
"The local area of Cupertino has missed revenues from Hewlett-Packard since they left the site however the construction of Apple Campus 2 has lead to the City Council's budget being boosted by an extra $30.6 million. $8 million of the extra revenue will be used to pay off the city retiree medical unfunded liability, with another $8.3 million being used to fund pavement maintenance. The remaining extra funding will be transferred to the city's capital reserve."
The City of Cupertino has a 6% City Income Tax. . . and Apple will be employing 16,600 employees earning money within the city limits of Cupertino, all being required to pay that 6% City Income tax. Assuming they average $100,000 annual taxable income, not a bad assumption, Cupertino stands to garner almost $100,000,000 dollars in tax revenues PER YEAR from income taxes. Not a bad tax base for a city of just 60,000 residents. The mayor is playing with fire trying to FALSLY accuse its largest employer and tax payor with "tax evasion!" The idiot is a LIAR and could lose his position based on his statements.
That figure has grown immensely since that first year of construction as more and more work preceded. The Mayor is a LIBERAL LIAR.
Chang introduced a $1000 per employee tax on employers with over 100 employees in Cupertino targeting Apple which would have to pay $16,600,000 per year in extra taxes. He could not get even ONE vote for his proposal. . . So much for the accusations of the Liberal Mayor and YOU!
I guess the apple fanbois have no clue how ridiculous they sound. Everyone is a liar except the copy paste crowd.
You are the one who sounds ridiculous with your repeated litany, Okie. You are so predictable.
I only spent a few minutes finding those few examples. Only two were refuted by calling them liars. Steve Jobs has been dead for years and has no bearing on the current situation. Is money getting tight? Will they have to start paying those taxes on the money they’ve hidden away?
Apple behaves like all big corporate entities. My issue is with those who pretend Apple is any different from the others.
Apple sends it’s attack dogs to attack individuals personally as has just happened. Funny thing their attack dogs always call people liars, and quote their stock price as proof. This is a political forum, not a product promotion site.
I saw Apple just made a big deal with SAP, and before that IBM. Corporations are not going to buy into this un-crackable phone crap. Those phones and tablets will be centrally managed and cheap. Just commodity stuff.
Their services group is under non-stop criticism because of their stupid failures with iTunes, Music store, and high-handed attitudes. The last few releases of OSX have been terrible, and the hardware is second tier.
I see Apple is going to start using OLED screens. I guess they found a way to get them cheap enough to overcharge their customers. Only a few years behind.
