#NeverTrump effort fails from the start to sway GOP voters insistent on change
Tampa Bay Times ^ | May 4, 2016 | Alex Leary

Absolute and simple, the message blasted across social media this year, a shield worn by Republicans horrified by Donald Trump. Anyone not on board was a sellout.

On Wednesday, the movement was in shambles. John Kasich followed Ted Cruz in getting out of the way of the #TrumpTrain. Some vowed to continue to oppose the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, but the failure was, in retrospect, evident from the start.

The effort began too late, lacked organization, misread voters' appetite for change and Trump's unscripted style and overestimated the ability of social media and TV ads to change minds.

"It was a petulant fit of protest," said John Feehery, a Republican operative in Washington. "All they were saying was, 'We don't like Trump,' but they weren't telling anybody who they liked. I've never seen a more negative campaign.

"I don't think the voters give a s ‑ ‑ ‑ about Twitter and they really don't care about commercials that basically line the pockets of strategists," Feehery said.

"We were too late with too little," said Mac Stipanovich, a well-known Florida Republican who was not part of the formal effort but repeatedly warned about Trump. He has no plans to relent and will either sit out the election, or if the race is close, vote for Hillary Clinton.

"Everybody underestimated Trump and his appeal," Stipanovich said. "I don't think anybody had a real sense of how widespread was this antipathy for the status quo." Trump, he added, "appeals to the fears and prejudices of a significant element of the electorate, which is even a more significant element of the Republican primary vote. Trying to reason with those people about the issues is like trying to reason with a mob."

Give your voting base nothing in exchange for their votes, their free labor and their $$$ except lip service and lies that wouldn't fool a two-year-old... and, sooner or later, they will righteously rise up against you.

Huh. Who knew...? ;)

We thought after the primary shenanigans to steal the nomination for Cochran that the not-so-invisible had would've been embarrassed and more open to listening to the will of their voting fodder. After being given an excellent victory, their mission was supposed to have been to stop and reverse Obama's agenda.

Instead, they became emboldened, arrogant, and completely removed from that voters want. Now, they've been shown the door. At this point, I'll be THRILLED if they do anything to try to help hillary win. It will demonstrate, LOUD AND CLEAR, that hillary and the Republican elite are all part of the cabal that's out to screw US voters.

(I stated this on another thread:) They should be THANKFUL that they have the opportunity to be voted out of office. Throughtout history, people have been less generous to leaders who've sought to steal elections and well-being from their populations.

“On Wednesday, the movement was in shambles.”

Good!

It’s time to unite in support of Trump, our Republican nominee to defeat Hillary and the Dems.

The country, as we know it, would not survive 8 years of Hillary, after 8 years of Obama.

There is proof:

GOPe is in bed with the Democrats for a Hillary presidency.

See:

1. Denial and Isolation
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

I’m thinking the vast majority of NeverTrump will hit 5 by November.

NeverTrump was always really about never-ending illegal alien inundation.
The Cheap Labor Express is still determined to block the citizens from stopping them.

Dear #Never Trumps

You do realize you painted yourselves into a lose-lose position.

If Trumps wins you are see as politically impotent and irrelevant. If Trump loses, everyone on our side is going to be pointing at you pepole as the cause.

There is no upside for you morons here. Perhaps you should just finally be honest and call yourselves what you are. The Petulance Party. Your party symbol will be a Crying Baby.

“Mac Stipanovich, a well-known Florida Republican who was not part of the formal effort but repeatedly warned about Trump. He has no plans to relent and will either sit out the election, or if the race is close, vote for Hillary Clinton.”

How special. Well, at least we can be thankful that Stipanovich’s phony “conservative” mask has been ripped off, revealing a dyed-in-the-wool Uniparty operative totally antithetical to the interests of the working folk.

What a bunch of sore losers.

It’s quite simple, really: Cruz did not turn out to be the candidate the people want, and Trump did turn out to be that candidate.

BTW, calling the people stupid for wanting to ditch “politics as usual” is not a winning tactic. We are not peons to our lord politicians—politicians are supposed to serve *us*, not the other way around.

Johnnie, with Trump as your standard bearer, you should look in the mirror why he loses in November. You’ve changed, nit the conservatives who refuse to sell out principles for a party that no longer represents them. Election after election you choose a non-conservative and LOSE. Instead of following the model of Reagan and getting the most conservative and uplifting candidate, the most liberal and the one with most negatives is chosen again and again, meanwhile the masses of drone followers expect a different result. McCain, Romney, Dole, and the Bushes taught you nothing. Enjoy your Cheeto faced wannabe dictator as he moves you and your party further left.

No, what YOU need to do is look in the mirro, take a VERY deep breath and realize what you are doing.

Trump has Ginrich, Sessons and other Conservatives advising him.

Hillary has ZERO Conservatives on her team

NOTHING in life is perfect. You made the best you can do with the tools you have.

Sorry you hate Trump. Sorry your choice lost. That happens some times in politics.
