I like Newt, Trump says he wants someone who has governmental experience and has a history of getting things done. Newt helped get the budget balanced, end welfare as it was at the time, and passed most of the "contract for America".

Newt would fit Trump’s described VP as someone who can get things through Congress. But he’ll be almost 80 by the end of the term, plus I think he has too many negatives. I think Trump needs to pick an apprentice. Didn’t like anyone listed so I chose other.

As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.

Trump needs a USAG that will stop low-information, pro-LGBT state officials from promoting policies which ignore 1st Amendment-protected religious expression and speech which the states prohibited themselves from doing when they ratified Section 1 of the 14th Amendment.

14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

In fact, since the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect LGBT agenda issues like gay “marriage,” Trump's USAG will also need to put a stop to the so-called right to gay “marriage,” this “right” wrongly legislated from the bench by state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices, and enforce 10th Amendment-protected state power to prohibit constitutionally unprotected gay “marriage.”

By establishing official policies which protect constitutionally unprotected LGBT “rights,” both the feds and the states are arguably violating the following constitutional clauses which the states made to prohibit both themselves and the feds from establishing protected / privileged classes.

Of those choices the one that would help him the most is Rubio. Kasich would be next, then Cruz. But unless Trump can show he’d beat Hillary I don’t think any of those guys would take it.

Donald Trump will choose a person who will fit his specific requirements for the job. There are any number of good candidates for VP but Trump will need more than a person who is liked by various segments and elements of the GOP. Popularity alone is not enough. Many of those persons liked by the party voters will be considered for any number of important govt positions. However, I know who I do not consider safe in terms of loyalty to himself and that would include Kasich, Rubio, Cruz, Jeb, for starters.
