As front-runner Donald Trump continues his march toward the Republican nomination for president, he is more popular than ever among GOP voters, according to a new Morning Consult survey.
Fifty-six percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents polled from April 29 through May 2 said they would vote for Trump if the election were held today. Thats an 8-point increase from our previous poll, taken last week.
And while Trump is up 8 points, the news gets worse for his main competitor, Sen. Ted Cruz. Only 20 percent of voters are still backing the Texas Republican for the nomination, which is down 7 points from last week. Cruzs favorability among Republican voters was down 4 points (54 percent to 50 percent) and down 2 points among independents (27 percent to 25 percent). And in a week in which he announced former GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina as his would-be running mate on a Republican ticket, his favorability among Republican women also fell 7 points, from 54 percent to 47 percent.
The third candidate in the GOP race, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, was the first choice for 13 percent of respondents, up 1 point from our previous poll.
April 29-May 2, 2016 | April 26-29, 2016 | April 20-22, 2016 | |
---|---|---|---|
Donald Trump | 56% | 48% | 49% |
Ted Cruz | 20% | 27% | 24% |
John Kasich | 13% | 12% | 14% |
Someone Else | 4% | 8% | 7% |
Don't Know/No Opinion | 7% | 5% | 6% |
Various polls are confirming it.
Cruz has cratered.
Trump in the meantime can’t get more than 30%. /sarc
But of course our FRIENDS at Real Clear Politics don’t recognize this poll- never heard of it. :-)
So when I add up all the anyone-but Trump vote I get around 46%,,which is still LOWER than the pro-Trump vote!
GOP establishment shills are really dragging out this pain. Why?
I just don't trust the guy. Since about December, I've wondered if he was part of the Jeb-incrowd scheme to bring in delegates in conservative states. The resume is a clue.
From the article: “The Morning Consult survey polled 1,976 registered voters from April 29-May 2, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points. See the toplines and crosstabs.”
IIRC, RCP doesn’t like them because they also use internet data and not just the traditional landline, and the bit more current cell phones. RCP ignores non-response error.
Morning Consult does not, and I trust polls using a 3-way combo including internet more, to be honest with you, than those that use phones. I don’t answer if I don’t know the caller.
They want Clinton
Well that settles it, Trump is done for good!
He’ll NEVER top 40%. Ever, ever, ever.
The key at this point is the remaining primaries. Afterwards national polling comes into focus.

Forget the polls, they are too easy to fake, the guys betting on the election have the odds of Trump taking Oregon at 94%. If the gamblers are correct Trump runs the table.

Nebraska TRUMP 62.4%
West Virginia TRUMP 97.4%
Washington TRUMP 91%
California TRUMP 96.5%

So much for the lie that “a majority of Republicans oppose Trump.”
Not any more.
Does that say Trump is leading in Nebraska?
Wow.
That will ruin Beck’s next séance.
Yet, he is the only one that can whip the demented cankles?
Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States.
Will be interesting, for sure.
Look for Ted to drop out this weak...
Beck said that if Trump wins tonight he will be suicidal.
Warm up the straight jacket.

This has to translate into Trump winning Indiana.
The only state that Cruz will probably still win is Montana.
I think everything else is up in the air now.
The political markets are even saying Nebraska is starting to flip.
