CBS via YouGov has released a series of battleground polls for New York, Pennsylvania and California (full pdf’s below). Interestingly the polls are not identical questionnaires; instead they appear geographically nuanced, specifically on the Democrat queries.
However, there are some rather interesting trend similarities which are embedding as the campaigns of the three remaining republican candidates take on increased importance:
The electorate has made up their mind. There is only about 3% of the electorate who might change their vote. There will not be any “surging” per se’. Donald Trump’s overall appeal is across all demographics and internal ideologies. Donald Trump wins with women voters, and higher information political consumers. Very Importantly – Trump is seen as most authentic and capable as a political change agent. Trump also leads with Hispanic voters in California, and absolutely crushes the competition with the Asian electorate. The most important issue in all three states (NY, PA, CA) are jobs/economy. And economic voters are overwhelmingly Trump voters. (Trump also leads on the alternative issues – second place: security/terrorism) Conversely, Ted Cruz is seen as the most “inauthentic” candidate in the race.

Trump's reinforcing his fight against the Republican National Committee and insider campaign rules. Running against the party is a very good strategy for Trump...even from the getgo, he knew this. Simply b/c he realized there's so much hatred for the GOPe/establishment out there.

However, Cruz's serial strategy failure flops helped Trump. The Canadian hit a new low when he (1) went on a bash-Trump marathon, and, (2) started poaching delegates.
His low nos virtually collapsed. Self-absorbed Ivy League Cruz is one-dimension. How dumb not to have factored in that millions of Trump supporters would not be amused at his shenanigans.
Cruz pretends to rail against the corrupt party establishment system, but is now desperately attempting to use it to bail out his sorry candidacy, and overturn the will of the GOP primary electorate.
In a year in which people are disgusted with political insiders, Cruz crows about wins where is selected by political insiders.
But I was told Ted is surging after his big win in Wisconsin? What? They were wrong?

Most voters are not freepers and will have no allegiance to vote for for Cruz to stop Hillary. With so many disillusioned by his false, sell out actions many will sit out the election if Cruz is the nominee.
We are begging a couple who are friends of ours who are evangelical and conservative to vote. They believe that Hillary will stomp Cruz and that it is hopeless to vote with GOP as it is unless Trump is nominee.
It’s over, it’s been over for months. All Cruz can do is tip us into a floor fight which will only help the Dems. Cruzoids need to grow a brain.

He hosted basically a game show, dude. Maybe a few hours a week at best. He barely appeared on the show.
He still engaged in his primary job of running his real world businesses.

Ted’s seen as inauthentic because he is. Basically he’s a fraud and most people see it except for the small remnant of zealots on FR that post ad naseuem articles about Ted. Ted is about to get shellacked here in the NE because for all of our faults, we are direct, in your face and can see a fraud a mile away. Ted Cruz is everything that is wrong with the political system. A fake and a fraud who’s a career lawyer and politician, a theorist who’s never worked a day in the real world. That he spouts the conservative mantra from time to time only makes him a huckster using conservatives for his own gain. A truly detestable man.

It was a “narrative bomb”. Basically trying to push a story that people have rejected Trump for Cruz hard before the NY primary, knowing that it was really likely that Cruz would lose badly.
It didn’t work, and now Ted looks to maybe come in third.

Exactly like the evangelicals whom Ted presumed would vote for him in droves because he SAID he’s a Christian. He isn’t, and they didn’t. Evangelicals, like Northeasterners, can spot a fraud a mile away.
