Trump or Cruz
vanity | 17 April 2016 | wgflyer

Posted on 04/17/2016 6:35:15 PM PDT by wgflyer

As a stout, constitutionally minded conservative I am, of course, a Cruz supporter. As a person who has worked and saved all my life toward my recent retirement, I am adamantly anti socialist, hence, anti Democrat, anti establishment, and I am ok with Trump. I would prefer that Cruz wins, but if either of the two becomes our next president I will celebrate.

The current Trump/Cruz divisions on our side of the political spectrum, and the rancor, is distressing. But perhaps there’s another way to look at things, for beyond the election.

Cruz has already demonstrated a bulldog effort to counter the elite. Trump has expressed a huge desire to fix their screwups. Both accuse the other of dirty tricks in the campaign and the two factions are busily attacking one another, to our combined detriment.

Face it. No one is going to make a dent in the establishment without the ability to use the tools at hand to his utmost advantage. Nice guys won’t be able to compete with the likes of our current Federal Government occupants. We will need ruthlessness. The “dirty tricks” are, if you will, training for dealing with the real enemy, who’s strength and underhandedness has been so formidable.

With Cruz’s knowledge of constitutional law and his persistence in fighting for us, as already demonstrated, and his ability to work establishment primary rules to his advantage show us he goes not toothless into the fray. Trump’s unabashed political incorrectness and his ability to derail the media and flummox the establishment indicate strength and resolve. His ability to turn disadvantage into advantage shows cunning. Both candidates are willing to fight back as necessary and both, amplified by the bully pulpit and a broad popular support, could do wonderful things for we who want our country back. Any other candidate, on either side, would be the usher of greater decline.

We’re at a three way fork in the road. One fork leads to, and over, a cliff. The other two take us elsewhere, to be determined in future history, but certainly away from the cliff.

I profess that I don’t really know what will motivate trump if elected. I’m pretty sure what will motivate Cruz if elected, as it has been demonstrated to me under fire in the Senate. I’m absolutely certain as to what will motivate any other Republican or Democrat if elected. The establishment elite in both parties, and their cronies across the huge bureaucratic landscape, will do everything in their power to derail or coerce either Trump or Cruz both before the election and especially if one of them is elected, because the path to the cliff is gilded with gold, roses and waiting parachutes for them. We can’t have that.

If we think about it, perhaps, in that light, maybe we can focus on making sure that one of the two “good alternatives” becomes the candidate, swallow our bile if our guy loses, whoever our guy is, and support the winner. The combined Trump/Cruz grass roots support is a powerful voting block and is as impervious as has ever been to the establishment media assault complex.

Never Trump, if not Cruz, or Never Cruz, if not Trump, are not wise philosophies at this point in the game. Either candidate marks a decided change from the path we’re currently on. That is a good thing. One of them absolutely must be our next president.

Been a long time since I've posted anything, but I wanted to put this out to y'all, in case it makes any sense.

Agreed. You have to be able to vote for either candidate no matter who you’ve supported in the primary. In a nutshell, a can of orange juice is better than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.

Wise enough to warrant repeating.

Cruz is a fraud and has thrown his lot in with the GOPe. The fact that they back him is enough to never vote for him. It’s Trump by ballot or write-in for me.

Makes a lot of sense, but the only thing that bugs me, and I have said for quite a while, either Trump or Cruz, is that Cruz has seemed to lay down with the establishment over the past few weeks...That concerns me...

“As a stout, constitutionally minded conservative I am, of course, a Cruz supporter.”

I can’t vote for either of them(as neither is a conservative)...but in what world (now that we are eight months in where you should have been paying attention) Is Cruz a Constitutional Conservative??

What issues has he crusaded on and advanced during the campaign? the guy is an ineligible, establishment, Goldman Sachs hack.

Cruz is supported by a bunch of Texans who are now working with the GOPe.

That is an overgeneralization, but there is some truth in that as well. They are not completely motivated by the presidency, but as well, but the wrongs which have happened historically against Texas, and I agree there are things which Texas is correctly miffed about.

But Cruz won’t win the presidency. He just won’t. Texas needs to back off on this, and get with Donald Trump to resoundingly defeat democrats for the presidency.

There are other ways to deal with the past. Now is not the time. Americans of all types (even Texans) need to stand up now for ourselves, against the corporations which are selling out our country.

Good post.

But it’s not Trump/Cruz hate-porn so don’t expect many replies.
Can’t believe how filled FR is with partisan idiocy.

I voted for Cruz (and still would) but will gladly vote Trump in November if he is the nominee.

I know you think that posts like this one are simply pro-Trump, anti Cruz but trust me, it’s no.

Ted Cruz has absolutely joined with the GOP to defeat Trump. They are providing money, their infrastructure, and the party apparatus to reach their goal. If they can deny Trump 1237, they may let Cruz run because it won’t make any difference in the end. Cruz would lose and they’re ok with Hillary.

But my guess is they want to be sure they have someone who’s going to successfully push TPP and even if Cruz were to win and even if he’s obligated to the establishment of that win, he doesn’t have sway with enough fence-sitters to guarantee TPP. So my guess is they’d dump him and get their own guy.

Here’s the dirty little secret. The establishment can’t beat Trump, he’s proven that. But they can beat Cruz without breaking a sweat. So a vote for Cruz is a vote for the establishment. The only way to stop them is Trump.

I assure You that I will never cast a vote for Cruz. I have never seen such an assault on democracy in my life.

Trump or Cruz

I can go for that but I’m a Trump supporter first.

If Trump doesn’t get the win outright and Cruz, because of his delegate work, gets it on the second or third vote - well, I can live with that also.

But if the GOPe aces out both Trump and Cruz and puts in a slicky boy I’ll curse Cruz’s name till the day I die.

Leave it to a Trumpet to destroy any effort at unity within the conservative movement and within FR. How typical and disappointing.

I for one strongly support the sentiments layed out in this thread. I support Cruz but will support Trump if he is the nominee. However, I will not support Kasich in any case since he is essentially a Demorat.

Sorry, been a Republican all my life. Started when I voted for Ronald Reagan but the party had left me.

Its Trump or no one for me.

The party has left the working man and need to be tought a lesson on who makes this country work.

If that screws Repubs on the down ballet so be it.

Never SCruz ! I once thought he was the guy. He's shown himself to be a slimeball just like the rest.
