Two wild cards as to whether Trump reaches 50% or not:

1. How many of Trump’s voters, especially among independents and Democrats, switched their voter registration to Republican by the deadline of last October?

2. How many of Cruz’s supporters are registered as part of the Conservative Party in New York and not part of the Republican Party?

Trump at 50+ would be huge. Hillary at less than 50 would be huger. Tuesday is a red letter day for the Republic, no matter how you slice it.

I would imagine the number of Democrats and independents switching to Republican in October is close to zero.

The pollster should first ask, “Are you a registered Republican”.
