On Tuesday Donald Trump announced he would force Mexico to pay for a border wall by threatening to cut off billions of dollars in remittances sent by immigrants living in the United States.
Later that day Barack Obama took time to scold Donald Trump on his plan to cut off remittances to Mexico until they fork over the funds to pay for a border wall.
Of course, Barack Obama is wrong about this, too. The US already cuts off remittance payments to Somalia.
"Following the Sept. 11 terror attacks, Congress passed stricter money-laundering regulations, which caused several large U.S. banks to close the accounts of Somali money transfer operators out of fears that funds would end up in the hands of terrorist groups like al-Shabab"
The Mexican central bank reported that money sent home by Mexicans overseas hit nearly $24.8 billion last year. It is the largest foreign source of income to Mexico. Trump’s remittance plan ought to help fund the border wall in no time.

One would not need off shore accounts for money transfers to Mexico. All one would need is a person or entity in Canada, the U.K. or some other third nation to act as the middle man.
An illegal alien in Houston would wire money to a company in Canada, that company would take a cut, and they would then wire the money to Mexico.
I could not believe it when Obama complained that cutting off the money going back to Mexico from illegal immigrants “would collapse their economy.”
SERIOUSLY ?? So our economy needs to prop up THEIR economy? Has he seen OUR economy lately?

You’re trying way to hard to defend the premise. Fact is the average day labor Illegal isn’t going to go through all that. They’ll go with the cheapest method, if it saves 50 cents after “wall fees” to buy a USPS money order, that’s what they’ll do.
Offer wall-building jobs to all current illegal immigrants, paying minimum wage. Work 8 hrs/day, study English 2 hrs/day, 6 days/week.
The first 300,000 illegal immigrants who can pass criminal background checks and drug tests get the jobs.
Both parents must work on the wall, one works day shift, one works swing shift, so they can take care of their kids. After 1 year on the wall, they and their children are first in line for Citizenship applications.

I was just pointing out one of many ways the wall can be built and paid for. Nay-sayers have no vision and say the wall “can't” be built. A liberal acquaintance of mine said exactly that this week: “We can't build a wall.” He meant it was physically impossible to build a wall. No vision. Same people said we couldn't go to the Moon. But the people who had vision took us to the Moon. Same with the wall.
