The #NeverTrump people aren’t delegates.

If you don't think that's the only reason the GOPe has been backing Cruz I have this bridge to sell you.

If you don't understand that the Cruz capitulation to the GOPe (Bushes, Graham, McCain et al) is what this has now become, you need to rethink. Sooner would be better.

“This is nonsense. If you cannot command or cobble together a majority, you haven’t earned the party leadership.”

Inside the beltway gibberish. McCain ‘cobbled together a majority’, so did the idiot Romney. How did that work out, Krauty?

Krauthammer, you’re going senile with Trump Derangement Syndrome:

If you cannot get Indy’s and/or new voters to vote for you, and generate some enthusiasm and excitement, then you haven’t earned the party leadership.

“Trump is not popular with the party regulars and I suspect that if he doesn’t win on the first ballot he has no chance at all on the second.”

On that point I agree with you 100%. But Cruz is not exactly Mr. Popularity with the same party bosses (and hacks) that you noted are appointing a lot of the delegates.

You really think a large chunk of Trump’s delegates are going to flip to Cruz? You think the Donald won’t walk out of the convention and take his followers with him?

You do realize if Trump doesn't have over 50% that none of the Trump delegates have to flip to Cruz, for Cruz to get 50% +1. When they walk out of the convention what do they get?

If Trump doesn’t show up with 1,237 delegates, Cruz will be nominated on the second ballot.

And the Republican party will divide forever.

Basically we have two clubs. The Republican club and the Democrat club. The Democrats anointed Hillary to be the nominee this time around. Bernie is upsetting their plans but not bad enough so that Hillary will not be the nominee.

The Republicans anointed Jeb Bush to be the nominee. The problem is that Donald Trump came along and messed up those plans. Being that Donald is an outsider who never held office and not beholding to anyone would not work. So the Republican club went down the list with Cruz being last on the list to knock out Donald and cut a deal.

So Cruz has inherited the Republican Club donors and the machine. This is quite evident in with the delegates. With the help of the Republican club there is a lot of delegate manipulation in favor of Cruz. The Republican club will go to any length to see that Trump is not their nominee.

“Cruz will be nominated on the second ballot.”

Why is that?

“Someone with time on their hands should examine the records and policies of all of the Republican governors, congressmen, senators, generals, admirals, business leaders, etc. and see if there is someone better than Ryan in case of a deadlocked convention.

There has to be at least one American conservative with sufficient experience and a reasonable resume that could step in if necessary.”

Sen Jeff Sessions of AL
Sen. John Thune of SD.
Former Sen. Tom Coburn of OK (I have always really liked him.)
Sen. Tim Scott of SC (the only African American Republican in the Senate)
Gov. Greg Abbott of TX (I really like him too.)

They walk and nominate a candidate with a 60% plus disapproval rating. That’s the ticket.

gopE Cruz won’t need a large chunk of Trump’s delegates. He’ll have all the other delegates by order of the party leaders.

And once again, enough people will have been fooled by the rinos that the crap will continue for another four years.

Because most delegates become unbound after the first ballot and many more (even those designated for Trump) are favorable to Cruz. His people have been working on this since January.

Wisconsin pretty much guaranteed a contested convention and the Cruz and Trump campaigns with their overwhelming majority of delegates will write the rules.
If both want, it will be a run-off between them until one or the other secures the nomination—no other candidate will be allowed to interfere without violating the rules and destroying the party.
What I fear is that Trump, due to his maladroit or non existent handling of delegates will know that he cannot win in Cleveland so in a fit of petulance, something he is known for, he will use his delegates in the rules committee to allow others to enter the race.
His deranged hate for Ted Cruz may cause him to help a GOP-e RINO win before he would let the conservative Texas senator get it.
His BFF Hillary would sure be grateful.

“How do we resolve this with anything resembling party unity? “

Trump/Cruz 2016, is the only thing I can think of that’ll work.

I just read where some of Cruz’s ‘pledged’ delegates had no idea they’d committed to him. I hope someone in the supposed news organizations start researching Cruz’s claims vs. reality.

Ted thinks if he says he’s has the 2nd ballot he has it but life doesn’t always work out according to our wishes.

I pretty much think they need to bury their differences and team up against the GOPe machine.
At this point I think if they don’t they both get screwed, and then the GOP gets taken apart piece by piece.

I am a huge Cruz fan; but I know that if Donald doesn’t get the chance to go to DC and blow a Yellowstone-Crater sized hole in it, no one will.
That is the outcome I want. And Trump was on course to do it, until collusion set in to stop him. So it’s on Cruz that it’s not gonna happen. It’ll be some sort of saddle-sore biz-as-usual 4 years, where the also-ran (or also-didn’t-ran) comes limping into town on a broken-down nag and gets blamed for everything w/o accomplishing a dadgum thing.
So, Cruz, my ex-hero, you and your coalition of the shilling peeled it, you eat it.

The party bosses pretend to hate Cruz. It’s all a scam. We were all sure that McConnell hated Cruz. But his superpac gave Cruz a half million dollars. Graham, another Cruz “hater” did a fundraiser for Cruz.

This “hate Cruz” garbage is just to make people believe Cruz is an outsider.
