Fresh Market: Gun free zone
Enter at your own risk
They’d never know the difference so screw ‘em.
The sad thing is that the meat department in Fresh Market has the best meats and it is competitively priced.
That was our go-to place for steaks and the like.
Not any more.
I am sure the Cap’n has, or, will call the local manager and tell him why we don’t shop there any more. (She has more free time than I do)
The small chain is not doing so well even though they have some very interesting products, their veggies are good, their meat is excellent, and one can find things there one can hardly find anyplace else. But they are a bit pricey and they play NPR music over the soft-speakers to attract the higher-end crowd so they have to really work at it to pay their bills.
So what do they do to promote sales in their higher end niche market? They p!ss off a good percentage of their best customers who are CCW carriers but now won't darken their doors again (like myself) and pander instead to a small sliver of anti-gun fanatics... in the SOUTH, of all places fer cryin' out loud!
That's really not a formula for increasing sales and regaining market share. It's approaching Starbucks stupidity. But I guess it's all the corporate yuppies could think of to fix their ongoing sales problems - aggravate your customers over a non-existent "gun safety" problem instead of reduce your high prices and snobby overhead.
And I’ll ask for a 40% discount. They won’t give it to me. No worries, neither will I give up my weapon. We can always “ask” each other.
I respect the rights of a store owner to not allow me to carry my weapon concealed or open.
I refuse to buy anything or give them patronage. They choose the rules of their store within the limits of the law. I choose to buy from them!!!!!
” one of those high cost yuppie chains “

Far from it, produce, good butcher and deli with beer, wine and spirits. I will just sneak in to get my Zywiec darks-you can’t get that anywhere else around here.
How dumb do you have to be to advertise that you are a gun free zone?
Agreed. Back when Starbucks was taking so much flack for asking that customers not open carry I sent them a friendly note saying that I carried concealed often at their shop and hoped that I could continue to. I got an equally pleasant one back stating that they would honor all local laws but preferred that people not open carry. Having run a business I can understand their reluctance to have something that could scare off customers.
How are they going to know if you are carrying?
[Unless it’s in the open.]
“Do criminals have a website listing businesses and residences that are defenseless?”
If they download the “Posted” app they do.
That’s nice of SB. did you email or actually pen write them?
Email. I was with the group that got the CCL ball rolling in Illinois. One thing our local bunch worked hard at was PR. We approached opponents in a friendly manner and won a lot of converts.
I have a permit and when I carried, 10 years or so ago, I paid no attention to such nonsense...I ALWAYS carried as do most off duty police officers.
Somebody please tell me how an inanimate object can scare a person, that’s like being afraid of a wrench.
I want to be surrounded by normal people packin when some idiot decides he’s going to rob the place and everyone in it.
Who wants to visit a store that will not allow a customer to defend himself?
scratch that one.
