NYT: Donald Trump, RNC leaders discuss Louisiana delegates

GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump met with leaders from the Republican National Committee this week and reportedly hashed out his concerns over delegate distribution, particularly in Louisiana.

Trump has spent the past week raising issue over Louisiana’s delegates because, while he won the state’s GOP primary March 5, he could get fewer GOP delegates from than second-place finisher U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz through political maneuvering.

The New York Times reports that Trump and RNC leaders met Thursday to clear the air, with RNC chairman Reince Priebus explaining that each campaign had to fight for delegates at each state’s convention.

“It’s not a matter of knowing. It’s a matter of pointing out that politics as usual has no place for actually voting for a nominee.”

You are aware that when a candidate gets on the ballot for each state, they agree to the rules of said state. Right? So are you saying when Trump agreed to the rules in Louisiana, he really didn’t?

The RNC is starting to sound like the Democrats with Hillary’s Super-Delegates.

I voted in a poll asking if Romney were the nominee, would you vote for him? It was 96% no, 3 % yes and 1% undecided.

When Cruz does it, it’s just “following the rules.” You Cruzers are pathetic hypocrites.

Cruz is fully in with the GOPE and their cheating ways.

He will be proud as punch to smirk all the way through his acceptance speech for the Nomination, regardless of what the voters thought.

Yep. I would imagine this meeting was Manafort’s idea.

Trump needed somebody to explain the rules to him. At least that’s better than him threatening lawsuits on Twitter.

It's certainly a more intelligent approach.

Trumps spokesman said that notice of the vote was selectively distributed so that people entitled to vote did not have actual notice of the meeting.

The RNC and GOPe have a disintegrating image problem. The court of public opinion is warming the electoral tar and feathers.

I should hope not. I believe everything Cruz has done WRT the delegate process has been above-board.

THOU SHALT NOT STEAL

DEMS STEAL VOTES, LET ILLEGALS VOTE, STEAL VOTES

CRUZ IS NO DIFFERENT.

FOR ME, I WORKED THE ELECTION AS A PRECINCT CAPTAIN, THIS IS A REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY AND THE HONESTY OF THE VOTE IS SACRED.

OUR VOTES EQUAL OUR CHOICE. STEALING TRUMP DELEGATE DISENFRANCHISES THE WINS HE FOUGHT FOR.

REPUBLICANS BETTER WATCH OUT YOU WILL LOSE VOTERS FOR 20 YEARS IF THE PERSON SELECTED ISN’T THE ONE WITH THE MOST VOTE.

The nominating rules will be voted on at the convention. https://gop.com/convention-facts/?convention_type=rules Until then there are no rules. The GOPe is openly talking about getting rid of Rule 40. There is only one reason for that—so they don’t have to nominate Cruz if Trump flames out.

The state rules determine delegates to the convention.

>>> The GOPe

Who is the GOPe in your definition? How do you determine who is and isn’t GOPe?

CRUZ HAS A PROBLEM, HE HAS HUNDREDS OF DELEGATES LESS THAN TRUMP AND OVER 2 MILLION LESS VOTES THAN TRUMP.

WHAT YOU THINK MILLIONS OF TRUMP VOTERS WILL BACK A THIEF?

It’s not true that there are no rules. The previous rules always stand until they are modified or rejected at the next convention. Otherwise the convention would be reinventing the wheel for mostly non-controversial organizational details. This is roughly the same process every organization with broad support uses.

I’d be fine to give Trump the exact proportion of delegates as he has votes; how about you?

(And... no need to yell.)
