This is bizarre. North Korea only exists because China allows it to, essentially as a buffer with South Korea. If China gets ticked with N.Korea, it would collapse tomorrow.

S. Korea President Park Geun-hye has been working hard to improve relations with China, especially at the economic level. At some point I could see China just dumping the North, or encouraging someone to take the Fat Brat Leader out.

China has been cozying up to South Korea, perhaps the two are working out the solution to the “North Korea Problem.”

The Norks may be more cozy with Putin these days.

In North Korea they tend to have unfortunate “auto accidents.”

Wow. An even bigger display of Kabuki theater than even the US general elections. (Or is that Gewuji, to use the Mandarin pronunciation? or Gamugi, in Korean?)

China’s and South Korea’s main concern, is stability, knowing if suddenly North Korea plunges into chaos, millions of refugees would overwhelm their borders. That is why, they above all want to keep things stable.

It would be interesting to track the trajectory of the rhetoric from Jung un, against Jung Il, against Kim Il sung.

Mainly in regards to threatening rhetoric after a couple of years as “the big cheese”.

I wouldn’t be surprised is Fat Boy meets a sharp blade, or heart attack.

I personally think the US should go to China, cut a deal that North Korea’s government gets taken down, the North and South unify under South Korea, and Korea stays democratic, but neutral and we can get our troops the hell out of there. I do believe South Korea’s largest trading partner is China and it would bring more stability to that area.

I agree, I say we do like Germany after World War II, set up zones of occupation with South Korea, USA, China and Russia. It’s going to take a generation to get North Korea up to speed. No need to rush reunification like they did in Germany, before the North Korean population can be on a closer level with their Southern brethren.

Or go for a leisurely swim in the Pottongang River, never to come back due to “sudden rapids.”

Careful, little Kim. I don’t think China will have the same compunction against swatting a gnat as would the West.
