Army Gen. Lloyd Austin relinquished command in Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday of the U.S. forces fighting the Islamic State as a bit of a sour note hung in the air back in Washington.
President Obama has been consistently criticized for a 2014 comment to the New Yorker magazine that the Islamic State, as it invaded Iraq from Syria, was merely the jayvee. In other words, it was not to be taken seriously. Months later, the terror army controlled large swaths of Iraq and Syria, forcing Mr. Obama to ordered a new war.
Then, The Atlantics Jeffrey Goldberg interviewed Mr. Obama and came out with a long favorable story this month on the commander in chiefs foreign policy views. In the story is this:
Early in 2014, Obamas intelligence advisers told him that ISIS was of marginal importance. According to administration officials, General Lloyd Austin, then the commander of Central Command, which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, told the White House that the Islamic State was a flash in the pan. This analysis led Obama, in an interview with The New Yorker, to describe the constellation of jihadist groups in Iraq and Syria as terrorisms jayvee team.
The quote clearly showed the White House was shifting blame from Mr. Obama to Gen. Austin, a 40-year Army combatant, leader and commander, as he went out the door.
Gen. Austin, through his public affairs office at U.S. Central Command, has denied ever making such a remark.
His supporters point out that, as the last four-star general to leave Iraq in December 2011, he had recommended to the White House that more than 20,000 American troops remain in the country because the gains there were reversible.

Bums always blame everyone but themselves.
Obama the POS-in-Chief is perfect didn’t ya know
This keeps up and even the great patriots from South that over-represent in our armed forces will give up too like the northeast already has. This POTUS is the devil’s handmaiden.
Simply cannot take the narcissistic Obama seriously. Neither can world leaders. One day it will be interesting to read the memoirs of Netanyahu, Putin, Li and others and how they had to deal with this petulant , closeted homosexual and his rapidly shifting moods. It had to be very difficult.
How much more damage is this piece of crap going to do to our nation before he is gone!
“Lying 0bama thinks nothing of impugning a general officers integrity to avoid taking responsiblity for his own words and actions.”
Obama HAS ALWAYS HATED THE MILITARY AND AMERICAN. I’ve known that since he first ran for the Presidency in 2008, and no one has to have the IQ of genius level to figure that out.
Bath House is good at this sort of tactic. He’s been doing it his whole life.
Looks like a former general has joined the rebellion !
Bump!
This article really got me upset. Omoron is suppose to be Commander in Chief but he is clueless so he blames everybody else.
When his daughters act up I’ll bet he tells MO “you’re the one who had these kids!”
Well he is blaming others, but from the years gone by up till today do not we see elected officials always blaming others and switching blame and they wonder why we are fed up of these elitist ivy league types.
“How much more damage is this piece of crap going to do to our nation before he is gone!”
As much as he possibly can. It would probably be his everlasting joy and legacy if the whole country had a total economic collapse. I really believe that Obama hates this country that much.
Like anyone in the WH knows anything about fighting. Every president thinks they know more than the generals in the field.
as much as possible. They want to cut the wounds deeper and deeper.
A President has access to dozens of advisors on any topic.
To blame one individual for bad advice is pathetic.
We all know bosses in the workplace who have pulled that stunt of blaming subordinates—some got away with it, some were not so fortunate.
I would fire anyone who tried to place the blame on subordinates—end of story—because I know they would not have my back if the going got tough.
They were bunched up in tight column that could have been wiped out in a few strafing runs.
Was our military asleep at the wheel?
Maybe not.
Seems there were reports of American Apache attack helicopters flying parallel to them and A10 attack planes orbiting above them
Why they did not wipe them out right then and there and save the world a lot of grief is up to Obama to explain, and not some Generals fault
Well said, and we can bet the farm 0bama will never admit to having any part of it.
The clown who takes less than 50% of his SECURITY briefings,
gives 150 billion to the worlds sponsor of terror, parties with
tyrants, ships guns illegally all over the world (Benghazi root...fast & furious).... blames a retiring general, yeah sounds about right for this POS
