" University Moves to Fire Conservative Professor Over His Political Views"
but the real story is this:
"Catholic University Moves to Fire Catholic Professor Over His Catholic Views"
Please note that in referring to "Catholic views", I am not speaking of the "view" that marriage is a union of a one man and one one woman only, but the liberty / academic freedom view that the student in question had the right to provide intellectual defense, in an ethics class, for the proposition that marriage = man + woman.
Th Catholic principle of academic freedom, which was manifestly more robust in the 13th century University of Paris than it is at Marquette.
Now, what should happen here?
What should happen is that via several different routes, this should be corrected, Professor John McAdams fully exonerated, and those who moved to sack him (esp, University president Michael Lovell.
Incidenally, Lovell has stated that the sacking of McAdams has "everything to do with our Guiding Values and expectations of conduct toward each other and nothing to do with academic freedom, freedom of speech, or same-sex marriage."
He's being sacked for nothing?
Read it here, on Marquette's Facebook, yet!
Lovell is, what can I say? A mealy-mouthed tyrannical putz.
I'm thinking, the Imprecatory Psalms. As I remember it, there's one about shoving somebody's teeth down his throat.
Speaking only allegorically, of the demons, of course.
As Eric Ericson notes: You will be made to care.
I thought Marquette is a Jesuit school, not a Catholic school.
Another story about McAdams and Marquette.
FReep mail if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Pope Francis is such a corrupting influence, so I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he sent one of his thugs to “persuade” Marquette to be a Leftist college.
Love how Academia values freedom of thought.
Pray AMerica wakes
There is no freedom of speech in the USA. Hasn’t been for about 50 years.
Students from Marquette and UW Nadison Law Colleges are automatically enrolled as members of the state bar upon graduation . Watch for the move to remove Marquette from having that distinction.
