WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Reuters) - Transgender people barred under a new North Carolina law from choosing bathrooms consistent with their gender identity filed a federal lawsuit on Monday, arguing the measure is discriminatory and threatens their personal safety.
North Carolina last week became the first state to enact a measure requiring people to use bathrooms or locker rooms in schools and other public facilities that match the gender on their birth certificate, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
The state's Republican-dominated legislature passed the law during a one-day special session called to repeal a Charlotte city ordinance that would have allowed bathroom choice based on gender identity versus sex at birth.
State lawmakers also voted to prohibit local governments from enacting anti-discrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The actions drew swift criticism from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy groups and companies including American Airlines, Apple and Google.
"By singling out LGBT people for disfavored treatment and explicitly writing discrimination against transgender people into state law, (the state) violates the most basic guarantees of equal treatment and the U.S. Constitution," said the lawsuit, which was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal.

The whole discussion needs to be opened to the point where you realize that there 999-odd ways other than transgender on the table. How will you handle a Romulan, who says he doesn’t want M, F, or Trans on his drivers license....but he wants to be listed as a Texas-Romulan. Will you bend over and allow that....and a month later have someone who wants to be Star Gate-Ancient-Texan?
And it will be stuck down on the basis that gays and the other alphabet sexualities are a ‘protected’ class of citizen.

I took a C in Biology and a B in Sex ED and I understand there are chromosomes that you are born with and cannot naturally change, that why I really do not care for this and it is not hard, if you are XX to the female’s room, if you are XY or the rare XYY to the men’s room, simple right.
This new law may get repealed, but I will NOT forget the companies who came out in support of the perverts!
Not only that, if a man in a dress walked into a women’s bathroom, no one is going to know it isn’t a woman unless he stands to pee.

You're right of course, but Democrats (and others) are good at pretending things to be true that aren't true and they caused or cause nothing but trouble:
- Democrats pretended that black people aren't people and we had slavery.

An amendment that has been ignored and over ruled for 150 years. So I guess the answer is yes. My fear is the 1st is net followed by the 2nd.
