When is a news story not a news story? That question hung in the air much of the day on Friday, as the major cable news networks laboriously steered around any direct reference to the political bombshell that had set social media aflame since the small hours. Once again the mainstream media had been Trumped, made to look floundering and foolish by the Republican clown-prince even as it wrestled with one of the biggest news days of the year. Belgian authorities had apparently captured a leading suspect in the Brussels attacks, and the United States military had apparently killed an ISIS leader in Syria. But for at least half the day, those headlines felt like footnotes to the hot topic TV news wouldnt even touch.
With no apparent sense of irony, Fox News sought to recast itself as a sober, responsible news organization, whose guests and commentators are deeply concerned about the toxic nature of American political discourse. During the 11 a.m. hour of Foxs Happening Now, an entire group of panelists earnestly embraced Hillary Clintons recent complaint that moderate, centrist, reasonable voices had been excluded from public debate and political media, and that this was harming democracy. The old saw about putting lipstick on a pig doesnt begin to capture it. Fridays display of cable-news hypocrisy and paralysis, as the talking heads danced along the edges of the unmentionable story everyone in the real world was talking about, was more bizarre and more far-reaching than that.

What does that tell you?
“Salon is campaigning for Cruz.
What does that tell you?”
It says a lot. Tells us who the left fears the most.
I’ve never seen salon posted on FR so much as it has in the past year or so.
Cruz is going to control the news cycle next week #cubanmistresscrisis
“Salon is campaigning for Cruz. What does that tell you?”
If I were a GOPe person posing as a Cruz supporter, I’d say the more support the merrier...anything to stop Trump...and Cruz won’t even be given a ticket to enter the GOP Convention, much less the nomination.
If I were a TRUE Cruz supporter, I’d start wondering if this is not a plan to first deny Trump the nomination, then deny Cruz the nomination - and dump another McCain/Romney on us, yet again. If I were still supporting Cruz, considering the people now supporting him, and the way the media is covering up his scandals...I’d have some SERIOUS THOUGHTS about whether I’m being used in some way.
Sure they are, with praise like this:
"We repeatedly got to see Cruzs unconvincing tough-guy act, where he wore a bomber jacket and stared down the TV cameras and called Trump a sniveling coward, looking somewhat like a sixth-grader trying to deliver Marlon Brandos lines from 'The Wild One'."
Cruz sure is lucky they aren't campaigning against him!
So if the GOPe steals it from Trump and installs one of their puppet candidates, and then they put Cruz on as veep , will you support it ?
It would have stayed a non-story if Ted hadn’t started running his mouth and blaming Trump.
Cruz has no one to blame but himself for this making national news.
Trump didn’t have to do a thing...this story was already out there and the press was just sitting on it so they could use it to full advantage. I’ll bet the GOPe was eager to keep this under wraps as well until they denied Trump the nomination. Too bad for them the National Enquirer isn’t part of the incestuous media/establishment cabal.
Diabolical? That would be the billionaire behind your team Salon— George Soros— no one ‘trumps’ him when it comes to diabolical.
I can’t imagine that we have seen anywhere near the end of this.
>Salon is campaigning for Cruz.
>What does that tell you?
Just what I already knew. Cruz is establishment idiocy. Allow the pollution of America with those bound to destroy it with their idiocy and greed.
You either work hard to make America great or GTFO.
Point. It came out pretty quickly that Rubio first produced a lot of this. Trying to blame trump instead was like trying to blame Trump for violent communist, Muslim, and #Blacklivesmatter rioters.
.... Hey ..... Like it or not ... Trump absolutely knows how to use the media to his advantage ..... It’s all about red meat and timing ....
On top of all that, he steals Ted’s name for his new grandchild. Diabolical I tell you! ;-)
GO TRUMP!
I actually read the article which I never do. I hate Salon but even though it was disingenuous on its face he did get it right about Fox News. It was kind of funny.
