WHOA! RNC Changes Rule To Stop Trump From 1,237 Delegates…All Are Eligible
Proud Conservative ^ | 3/25/2016

Republicans have assumed this entire elections season that a candidate must have won at least 8 state primaries or caucuses to be eligible for the GOP nomination, but apparently that is not the case and apparently a rule change hasn’t technically occurred, but that’s not the way it seems.

Even Ted Cruz said just last night that John Kasich wasn’t eligible because he hadn’t won enough states, so even he was mislead.

Insiders now say rule 40(b) only applied to the republican convention in 2012 and was never intended to be used in future elections.

From Washington Examiner:

Party officials and knowledgeable sources have confirmed over the past few days that Rule 40(b) doesn’t exist for the purposes of the upcoming convention. That means at this point, the three candidates left in the race, front-runner Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, are all eligible for the nomination, as, possibly, are the Republican contenders who have since suspended their campaigns.

Ben Ginsberg, a Republican elections lawyer who was involved in rule-making process for the 2012 convention, said that Rule 40(b) isn’t transferrable to the 2016 convention. Ginsberg explained to the Washington Examiner that what was passed in 2012 applied only to 2012, and that the 2016 convention must pass its own rule determining nomination eligibilty.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus confirmed Ginsberg’s assessment on Sunday during a television interview. “There will always be a perception problem if people continue to miss — to not explain the process properly. So, the 2012 rules committee writes the rules for the 2012 convention. The 2016 rules committee writes the rules for the 2016 convention,” he told CNN.

Personally, I don’t worry about a lot about a change in the rules, as the LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS are tremendous for those that are part of it...in other words, I think one can reasonably assume that Trump will SUE THE DAYLIGHTS out of anyone involved in a rules change that denies him the nomination. Of course they’re welcome to try, but Trump is worth $10 BILLION and so those swindlers better have some REALLY DEEP POCKETS as they’ll have to go against his legal team. (at least that’s my take)

He can sue, but the lawsuit won't go anywhere.

Legally, a political party has the right to make its own rules. Even if Rule 40(b) were a permanent rule, the delegates at the Convention would have the right to change it. Conversely, if the RNC removes Rule 40(b) before the Convention, the delegates at the Convention could reinstate it.

I won't vote if Trump is not the nominee.

Straight Democrat if he gets jobbed at the convention.

Does that happen in the April meeting, or the week before the convention?

Before a convention convenes, the Rules Committee meets and writes the rules for THAT convention. In 2012, the Rules Committee met and wrote Rule 40 (b) for the 2012 convention. There was never any intention of it applying to future conventions. The Rules Committee has yet to meet for the 2016 convention. And they will write the rules that apply to the 2016 convention. It has been this way since the beginning of time...

Correct, with the caveat that, at the start of the Convention, the delegates can vote to change those rules.

Easy to say...but if you’re a GOPe, you will need some BIG DOLLARS to make the case that you can STEAL the nomination from anyone you choose, after laying out the rules.

...to put it another way, Trump likely won’t care if he wins the lawsuits, he’ll just be happy watching the GOPe types have to deal with Chapter 7 when it comes to their legal bills.

Trump could win 1237 votes and win it. Does not have the support of the base. His negatives are growing by the day. More gop women are going nevertrump if he is the nominee by the day.

Why bother having states vote in the primaries? I can’t wait until they all crash and burn. The Democrats got nothin’ on the sleezy republican party operatives. I’m slowly reconciling myself to the fact that our country’s lost.

Sweaty Priebus came up w/ that after a sleepless night.....when he saw Trump was winning big.

(Breaking: GOP “rule 40b” makes brokered convention impossible, only Trump qualifies to be nominee.)

(RULE - Republican National Committee)

From Forbes, Rick Ungar Contributor, Apr 7, 2014: There’s an unspoken storm brewing in the Republican Party—a storm whose seeds were planted in the first days of the 2012 Republican National Convention.

For those who may not recall those late August days in 2012, the Republican Party arrived in Tampa dedicated to creating a seamless launch for the national presidential campaign of its standard bearer, Governor Mitt Romney, and to do all it could to insure at least the appearance of a united party as it moved toward the November election.

To make that happen, Chairman Reince Priebus—along with a number of national committee members on the Mitt Romney bandwagon—made the determination that anyone or anything associated with libertarian Ron Paul was bad news for the GOP’s chances and, as such, were to be avoided at all costs.

To meet that goal, Paul was denied an opportunity to speak at the convention unless he promised to allow the RNC to edit his speech.

40(b) is nothing new......(The Deep State)
